>How do most people feel about Easton CF parts (ie: forks and bars) for road bikes?

I am about 5'7 225 and am looking to purchase a road bike. I have been looking at 3 bikes. Specalized Allez/Sequioa and the Jamis Comet. I can get a much better price on the jamis but I have heard mixed things about both the Easton wheels and forks that come on the Jamis.

Any adivce is appreciated.

I have the Easton EC90 road fork. It's nice and light. No problems. But, what's to go wrong with a fork? Don't know about their wheels, but they seem to be pretty focused on R&D so they're probably good wheels. Good luck.

I can't provide a whole lot on the Easton/Velomax wheels, since I've never had them. I have tried bikes that had Easton Tempest IIs, which are a step up from the Circuits. They felt fine. Rolled smooth and fast. As for stiffness, I'd put the Tempest II somewhere inbetween the Ksyrium Elites and SLs. I have no clue about durability. I've never heard anything bad about Easton forks. I did have an Easton EC90 Equipe handlebar break on me with no crash to speak of, but I figure that was just a fluke. Probably a defect that managed to find it's way out of the factory. Despite the failure, I'd still consider Easton products when shopping for components.

I have the new Easton Ascent II wheels on my Merlin Magia. Very sweet wheel, light, smooth riding and a great climber. The bike had a set of Mavic SSL/SC wheels on it when I bought it, and I got the Ascents in order to have a REALLY great climbing wheel setup for the steeps. Now that I have ridden the Eastons for about 1000 miles in all types of terrain and road types, I really do not want to ride the Mavics at all any more. The Eastons , by comparison, are just too great a performer in all areas and super comfortable if you are in the saddle all day. Plus the Mavics could get downright spooky in stiff crosswinds.
I have a new Easton EC90 post on order, I'll keep you posted on that one, but I expect great performance from it also.
