Talk to me about IRON HORSE. I'm new.

Since 2001, over 90,000 cyclist's have joined Cycling Forums to discuss topics from general cycling to equipment, training, racing and travel or vacation destinations (especially in europe during the tour de france). We also feature an great deals in our online store, 100's of articles, classifieds and product reviews.

There's a LBS that's owned by a very respectable rider here in New England. I'm brand new to the sport myself, and am looking to buy a bike. Since I'm not sure that I will love this sport (I will) I don't want to go spend $1500 on just a bike right off the bat... which is normally my inclination when starting new things (buy the best right?). He recommends an Iron Horse Triumph Comp because he says the frames are well built, and the bike comes with all Shimano 105 parts, carbon fork, etc etc. The total for this bike is about $900.

He explains that it's better to get an entry-level bike that has decent components than a slightly more expensive popular brand that has equal or lesser components. I am open to any comments, or suggestions on what I should look at. Thanks!

i work for a bike shop that sells Iron Horse. Really good value in those bikes. you might wanna look at rscycle.com. there are a couple iron horse road bikes there. but there are alot of tommaso's also. there's a tr-300 there with shimano 105 components. and truvativ cranks. that comes w/ aluminum frame, carbon fork and seat post for 830. good stuff check it out.

Mofo - thanks for the response. The Tommasso AS1 looks like the bike for me. I'm going to go for some test rides for fitment, but at under $800 with alum frame, CF fork, and 105 / Ultegra components... I can't pass it up. Thanks for the recommendation.
