Well, if nothing goes wrong I should have my new 2006 Kona Stinky by mid-September!
I can't wait, I have been without a bike for 2 months now and I am about ready to go off the deep end!
If it comes in on time, some of us will be heading to Plattekill, NY, to get some downhilling in!
I got my new 2006 Kona Stinky last week. I only have a couple of rides on it, but I have to say that this bike rocks!!!
After I get a few more rides in, I will give more detail about it!
As for now I love it!!!
Here is a pic of the new Stinky!

hey!...still remember me? i am the guy who bought a Hoss....i saw in the website that kona release a new version of coiler...Coiler air if im right?...im planning to shift to downhill for more adrenaline russsssssssssshhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!........what do you think is a good buy? stinky of the coiler??(consider the 3000 price range) any suggestions friend??????
hey before i forget......can u suggest any bike at that price range that is tough enough to handle 5 to 7 ft drops without wrecking the frame sooner or later and still or maybe not heavy enough for some climbs.....thanx again:)

The Coilair is an awesome rig and would handle 5ft drops no problem. But it is not designed to do hucking all of the time or really anything bigger. It will suck up most everything that you throw at it like roots, rocks, etc. And it would be more pedal friendly than the Stinky.
The regular Coiler is also a great bike for smaller drops and can't suck up most stuff.
For myself I prefer the Stinky. I like hitting drops hard and fast along with the rest of my riding. I have zero worries about the bike when I am hucking off of something. With the new frame design it has a better stand over height and I think it handles better in the corners. Also I feel more comfortable with a dual crown fork when I am launching off of stuff.
The bike has little to no pedal-bob which is awesome, but you are still pedaling a 42lb bike. Short climbs are not to bad but I would not want to do a long one.
Both bikes are awesome, I guess it is just the type of riding you want to do.
Let me know if I answered your questions, if not I will try better next time! LOL!
Let me know what you might deside to do.
I forgot to add that the Coiler Delux is an awesome rig also. I have a friend that bought the 2005 and he completely loves it. He really does not do any drops over 4ft though. But I believe it would handle a couple foot bigger without any trouble.
hey before i forget......can u suggest any bike at that price range that is tough enough to handle 5 to 7 ft drops without wrecking the frame sooner or later and still or maybe not heavy enough for some climbs.....thanx again:)ive got an Specialized FSR XC (suprise, suprise)- i know, i know- cross counry right? 4 inches of front and rear travel,right?...mabey im just a killer freerider, or that sucker takes 6 and a half footers with ease- i havent had to take it in once, i just need to tighten the swingarm every so often. it has a DH stance for some stupid reason, so its really good for jumping/bunnyhopping/riding through ponds and /or slowmoving rivers.
with a really low gearng ratio, it can tackle hills like none other, and it accelerates surprisingly well out of turns in time for you next jump/drop. i like to take it on urban assult adventures and MX tracks. you can wheelie, bunnyhop, stop on a dime with ease thanks to its light weightedness-goes to show, light weightedness and strength do exist!!i think i need some dual crowns w/ lockout on this sucker..i better start saving up!!(unless i can find a good cheap pair [hint, hint])
FSRXCRIDER
yeah we know how they do it in GRASS valley:D where do you ride up there i used to live in yuba and sacremeto
HAHAAH!!!!OMFG!!!ITS TRUE!!! Grass Valley Ele. 2,300 POP 12,420
oh nice, Sac town, ive ridden, like, 50miles of the American River Trail, or whatever that trail is called (goes through dicovery park and whatnot).
uhm, i like to ride in empire mine, and go urban assult off the 5foot tall curbs offered here lol (piss off the oldies, i like to walk up on thier porches and huck it off their stairs)
uhm, the indipendance trail, harmony ridge, downieville downhill, white cloud, and other hundereds of miles of unmarked single track (round mountain, etc.)
im on the local high school mountian bike team (california chamionships won 4 out of 5 years!!) and we can ride from our sponsor shop, Tour of Nevada City Bicycle Shop, all the way over to yuba river on fire roads and singletrack.thats right, less than half of it on-road, and and like 95% of those roads aren't even main roads.
hmmmmmm.....
theres SO much more i can say, but im lazy and id would rather be biking right now, lol.
holy moly i was in wheatland a couple of weeks ago and they have built houses all the way from sac to yuba oh well there wasnt any real hills there anyway later

I've ride a 2004 Stinky for more than one year. Amazing bikes.
Stinky rules!

It is a pretty incredible bike. But it comes with the price tag. A Kona Dawg may be the better way to go.

Well, I have had my "06" Stinky over a year now and I still love it. The only real complaint that I have with the bike is the Marzocchi Drop Off Triple. I would like to put a 888 on it sometime this year if I can swing it.
