What do you think off this machine?
View Full Version : What do you think off this machine?
I have researched the alternatives rather desperately lately and have
even come to the point where I have bought myself a (light and sound
machine)named
Proteus it costed me about 200$ and I must say that it's really value
for money,
It works by entraining the brain to altered states like Meditation.
Another Device I have looked at is working in about the same way but
instead off light and sound as stimulation it uses very weak current
as stimulation its a CES-device(Cranial Electrical Stimulation)it
seems very advanced compared to other CES devices and it costs about
700$ so the price is a little high but as I always say,if it even have
some minor effect its worth every penny, the name off the device is
Neurotrek-digital www.elixa.com it's the latest on mindtech
it haven't been out on the marked for longer than a year so I could
not find that much info on it on the web or here on Usenet but I found
one post where I guy told that he had even quitted medication I have
dogged up some links that
Have these mind machines and other alternatives

I guess it's playing havoc with your PC right now cos' it keeps posting the same

Hello Gabatril,
I haven't used this type of equipment or related equipment. You have been
doing a lot of research. Well done.
However I am very interested in the possibility that machinery(electronic
devices) may work.
I built the following system. I get to the point eventually.
I don't know if you have been following my theories on the the causes of
Social Phobia but for me non verbal hostile communication is without doubt
one the ways that I ended up with Social Phobia. Let me give you an example.
I go for a walk every day and once in a blue moon while I'm walking close to
the garden walls along the footpath I suddenly look up to discover that
another person is only a few yards away and heading straight for me.
One of us has to give away and move to one side and with only a few
exceptions I opt to move aside towards the middle of the footpath or side
walk as Americans call it. In this case emotions can run very high as I will
explain later if one or other of the two people heading for each other
adopts an uncompomising stance. I must admit I have won a few of these
battles of will and determination to have ones own and by forcing the other
person to change their direction one effectively dominates that person
something that no one likes to have done to them.
Another example of non verbal hostile communication is when an asshole jumps
a queue. I saw an expert at this when I was working here in Dublin at a
University and this guy's behaviour was appalling but no one as far as I
know challenged him as he barged up to the front of the queue in the canteen
to be served without having to wait. Think about what people like this are
actually saying non verbally to the people they mistreat in this way.
However it really gets much more complicated than this. There is a whole
language of hate based on hostile non verbal communication and I wish I
could go into more detail about the subtler aspects of this. I asked the
group some time ago to watch as carefully as they can how others actions are
affecting them as people react in a non verbal way to what you may be doing.
I know for a fact this is very hard if not impossible to do but I am able
finally able to do it. It's a little easier for me now now that I'm almost
51. You are a younger guy and I know how hard it would be for you to keep
track of how others are reacting to you in an abrasive way non verbally.
Let me give you one more fantastic example of hostile non verbal
communication that behavioural psychologists have discovered something I
worked out for myself many, many years ago. There was a programme on Channel
4(www.channel4.com ) one of the UK's terrestrial TV stations called Body
Talk presented by a Professor of Experimental Psychology who till recently
worked in the University of Oxford. The Professor's name is Peter Collet and
there is some stuff about him on the web. He described the way how one
person dominates another by insisting that the other person go through a
door they are both going through, first. He gave an example that I happened
to observe on a news bulletin where Yasser Arafat and an Israeli Prime
Minister were in Camp David in America at a meeting to try to come to some
agreement about easing the tension in Israel and the territories controlled
by the Palestinians. The two men were heading for a door after the American
President had already passed through the door. Yasser Arafat and the Israeli
PM battled with each other at the door to force the other to go through the
door first! Absolutely true! The person who is forced to go through the door
first loses control and is dominated and mistreated by the other person. The
amazing part of this trick so many people use is that the person forcing the
other person to go through the door first makes it look like they are
behaving like a real gentleman. Nothing could be further from the truth. So,
Gabatril, the next time someone forces you to go through a door before them
try your best to feel the tension you will feel when some bastard does this
disgusting thing to you. This is what I'm talking about when I begged the
group to take note of how you are feeling as other people react in a non
verbal way to what you are doing. This is at the very heart of why I now
suffer from Social Phobia. It's always the little things that make life
wonderful or a living heall like it is for most of us in this group.
Like I said there is no end to the ways people hurt others using the most
subtle abusive non verbal communication.
So having worked all this out I thought I might be able to reprogram myself
to feel better each time I moved in a chair while watching TV. I bought a
PIR, Passive Infrared Sensor, that is used in burglar alarms to detect when
someone enters a room that is being monitored. These PIR's detect body
movements for example when I change my position in the chair watching TV. I
then connected the PIR to a door chime so that every time I moved in the
chair the door chime would sound! In this way I was hoping to reprogram
myself to feel better when I moved in the chair watching TV. My parents,
using a vast number of tricks that I unfortunately cannot describe right
now, have programmed me to feel tense each time I make any movement just
like the tension I feel in my chest right now as I type out this post.
That's how bad things are for me but that is how bad things are for most of
us in the group. We are so scared we are even afraid of our own thoughts.
Right? Of course right! By interacting with me in this abusive non verbal
way they positively love to do my parents were able in effect to get right
inside my poor head where I now feel like I cannot have a thought or feeling
without feeling that others can tell roughly what I'm thinking about or
feeling. I'm not saytig that people can read my thoughts. No way, but it
feels like I'm transparent to the world and this is one of the things
psychiatrists and psychologists know about us as people with Social Phobia.
It's just that I know why we feel this way! :)
So I used to sit there for at least an hour each day listening to the door
chime sounding each time I moved in the chair watching TV for about three
months but I'm very sad to say that this therapy I had such great hopes for
didn't work and this is what I want to say to you now, Gabatril. In my
opinion there is no device/machine on the market that can make any real
difference to us but I don't want you to take my word for it. The machines
you described are very expensive and I've heard about the Mind Mirror but I
would not consider buying it. There are all kinds of Bio-Feedback systems on
the market. I built one myself about 24 years ago. It was a highly sensitve
digital thermometer but I got nowhere with it. These systems attempt to give
people a feeling of control and I think you will agree that we feel we have
no control over anything at all! Right? Of course right! There is more to
curing this illness than feeling in control but for sure having control is
vital for happiness.
We have a Bio-Feedback clinic here in Dublin in St. Vincents general
hospital which is one of the bigger hospitals in the city but I wouldn't
want to use Bio-Feedback to help me get rid of Social Phobia. Does what I've
said help you?
Peter Nolan.
Dublin.
ps I've copied your post to my Social Phobia folder.
You want to get better, this machine might help. I don't know a thing about
it , but if it trains your mind and body to relax I say good. I your really
concerned about yourself and others, you might look into a support group for
people with anxiety. We need more of that. and as people get well and share
their experiences, I think it can happen. "Peter Nolan" <nospam@nospam.com>

wasn't Kurt Cobain using a device like this just before he shot himself in
the head? i think it was called a "dream machine".
