Keen cyclist has got a job in Barcelona from September - anyone with connections out there? Seeking

I was there with a CTC tour a couple of weeks ago and cycled right across the city from north to
south. It's surrounded by hills and industrial estates where it is easy to get lost trying to avoid
the heavily travelled dual carriageways cum motorways. Many did.

BUT BUT BUT the centre traffic is easier than London, there are a lot of cycleways and cycle lanes
and a lot of bicycles (helped perhaps by the student population). There's a guide to cycleways you
can get from the tourist office - worth searching via Google - and it seems a vibrant sort of place
(very hot though, plan to siesta).

And within 50/80 kms there's plenty of mountain-ish places to head to (once you learn the routes
in/out of the city). There's also good metro and local train service and on the latter I'm told you
can take bikes.
