Which company offers the best warranty
View Full Version : Which company offers the best warranty
I ended up getting a specialized tarmac comp, partly cause I heard good stories of their warranty service. Any one have thoughts or stories of which they belive is the best company warranty service?
My general rule is large companies look for a way out; small companies look for a way to make it right. Small custom builders tend to be the best since they rely so much on word of mouth for business they will generally bend over backwards to make you happy.
I wouldn't buy a bike simply because it has a great warranty. I buy bikes only if they are great. Like my 03 Cervelo Soloist Team was bought on ebay so I have no warranty. I crashed it in a criterium and it still works fine. I even use the recalled fork - it's still strong after a crash and scratch, and besides it's a very fast fork design.
So just go for the best bike that you want despite the warranty. Unless it's carbon fiber then you would want a lifetime warranty - I think that's what my 2005 Kestrel Talon has.

Agreed. Some large companies love to trumpet their "lifetime" warranties, but when their frames "crack 'n' fail" in normal use, the rider is told the frame has worn out and the warranty does not apply. A small builder won't do that; goodwill and word of mouth is too important to them.
