Sam Posey - What a DORK!

Hold My Beer An

Howabout Sam Posey's interview with armstrong on the OLN pre-race show: Looking down his stupid
reading glasses in some faux-intellectual charade. He looked like such an asshole that I could
barely stand watching the interview. And the questions: I was sure that Sam was going top end the
interview with proposition to blow lance.

What a freakin' asswipe.

How about when Posey and Beth Ruyak were a pair back in the Lemond tours. Actually Beth took the
cake with some of the most riduclous questions she used to put to Greg. It was so funny that I think
Greg was really holding it, to keep from laughing. Obviously he didn't want to embarrass Beth on
national TV. Did you see Beth run out like a dork to Greg after a stage? I am surprised someone
didn't stick a foot out to trip her. Of course there were those infamous Posey-Lemond interviews!

I had a similar impression.

Some of the content was really awful too.

How about that TDF history show that aired a couple of times yesterday- when he was narrating a
description of the early TDF bikes, he was talking about the second generation of bikes that came
with brakes on both wheels, multiple gears and "clipless toe pedals". What the hell are "clipless
toe pedals"? If he's trying to describe clipless pedals, that didn't come along for many more
decades...

Personally I couldn't stand that "Travel Reporter" chick.

Remember a couple of years ago when OLN had those two female reporters (Jessica Grieco and Kathleen
Murphy)along with Bob, Paul, etc...? And how so many people bitched about them? Can we get them back
this year? At least they were nice to look at and one had racing credentials. I can't stand looking
at that "travel reporter" lady. It's not that she's ugly, per se, just really hard to look at (I
guess that means she's ugly?).

On another note, did anyone see the OLN commercial where Bob Roll's "boss" tells Bob that fans have
been complaining over how Bob pronounces Tour Day Frants. Then it shows Bob practicing in the
mirror? Pretty funny.

Well he still hasn't got it right as the 'Day' part means there are 2 countries called France.
Anyway compared to Posey and the travel expert (groan) he's hilarious and knowledgable so the
pronouciation is forgivable. Btw was anyone impressed with the way the host was pronouncing the
racers and race names- like Angel Casero and L-B-L? It's going to be a fun 3 weeks! Darius

I agree, they should ditch Sam and the "Travel Chick". This is not the Travel Network after all (or
the Truman Show in Sam's case).

Yeah, the clipless pedals was a good one. Also, on the Tour "history" special, he did not even get
the translation of the name of the "Reveil Matin" right... If you are trying to impress people with
your language skills, you should at least have some... I guess maybe he was just reading a script.

I'll give two shifters up to Bob, he is really hilarious (did you see the commercial when he does an
impersonation of John Madden?) and also Frankie, whose technical pieces are not totally worthless.

Sam Posey is not a dork. Sam is an accomplished auto racer and engineer, and a *very* astute auto racing commentator. (I don't know his cycling creds, though.)

Cut the guy some slack on his body language. He has a CNS disease that looks to me like Parkinsons. Note that he is usually carefully posed to hide essential tremor (mostly right side from what I can tell). I also notice that he tries to move deliberately - probably to control the tremor and diskinesia.

Agreed that he may be a bit out of his depth in cycling coverage, so attack his question. But personal attacks are not appropriate.

His delivery has always reminded me of a young Jimmy Stewart. I kind of like the guy and can
overlook some of his inaccuracies. He is much better doing auto racing.
