Anyone else see Beloki's crash? That was a weird one, it was if the tyre just came off the rim. Hope
he's not as badly hurt as it looked.

It would seem it something like that. Its 35+ in France today, and those wheels would have been
getting rather hot all the way down a mountain.
He did seem to land first on the shoulder before hitting his head.
OTOH first time I've seen cyclocross on TV since the 70's.

God said, "div D = rho, div B = 0, curl E = - @B/@t, curl H = J + @D/@t," and there was light.

Because of the asphalt melting in these conditions he lost grip en fell. Result broken wrist, broken
elbow and right upper leg. end of the season for him unfortunately. Luckily there is Vinokoerov
trying to make this tour interesting.

Armstrong took action to avoid the body. He went left downhill over the rough ground and rejoined
the group of riders who had been behind him. In some sports he would have been DQ'd for not
completing the same course as the other riders. Mike

Oh, that'll be a rolled tubular due to the glue melting, was it? Someone else said a puncture...I
didn't see it.

Very impressive bike handling actually. slid all over the place before falling.
I think it was Lance that said the tyre burst, perhaps the best person to ask!

An amazing bit of off road cycling by Armstrong. I was half expecting to see him go all the way down
the mountain through the olive groves like James Bond once did.

Yes, but he didn't gain advantage with the manouvre and in fact lost places through no fault of his
own. I feel gutted for Beloki and almightily relieved Armstrong didn't go down as well.

What's with those scarey smiles? Why are they upside-down with only legs and naughty bits above
the water?

Yeah, he corrected the initial slide with opposite lock but then the wheel carried on sliding the
other way minus tyre. I think he did all that was possible to do. Respect!

Yeah, according Armstrong yesterday after the race Beloki's rear wheel locked up on breaking for the
turn, followed by the tyre bursting

Armstrong said that he went into the corner too fast, had to brake too hard and so blew the tire
off the rim.

Good to see they're all smiling as per the rules!

PS. If one synchronised swimmer drowns - do they all have to?
