My local bike store owner mentioned after my expensive cog/chainring/derailleur wheel replacement that I might want to try rotating chains to save wear to the gears. anybody else tried this? Seems like a good idea to me.

It isn't really necessary if you replace your chain at the appropriate time before it gets worn enough to chew up the cassette.
