View Full Version : Blood Lipid Tests

How often should I ask my doctor for a blood lipid test for cholesterol,
HDL, LDL, and Triglycerides?

Since starting a very low-fat diet, all readings were good except
Triglycerides. I have added eating a very small amount of peanut butter,
peanuts, and chocolate (with cocoa butter) to my diet. I am also drinking 4
to 5 cups of black tea daily. These all have been reported to raise HDL and
lower LDL. I am not sure how often I should ask for a blood lipid test to
see if these are doing any good (or if in fact they are helping at all).

Would suggest you discuss this with your doctor. S/he would be best able to
advise you on how frequently to check your lipid profile while you are making
lifestyle changes.

Humbly,

Andrew
