Surprised no one responded. New blood thinner
View Full Version : Surprised no one responded. New blood thinner
I posted a few days ago about the report of a new drug that will be on
the market quite soon. In the UK it will called Exanta (can't remember
the chemical name). Maybe people thought I was selling something.
Anyway, spoke to the pharmacist today at the anticoagulant clinic and
she told me that she expects it will tried first on people who develop
DVTs after joint replacements. It will be taken twice a day but with
no need for testing. It will be great if they offer it to people with
AF or replacement valves. Just thought all those taking Warfarin
might have been interested. Diana
I read that the new thinner will not be for those who have artificial
valves and some other conditions. The new drug is not without its
problems. I will wait to see and will not plan to use it for at least a
year after it becomes available.

Herb,
My sister, a MD, said the same thing - she'll wait awhile before switching.
