Greetings,
I want to replace the bars on my Gary Fisher mountain bike with bars that have a little bit of a rise. Are bars a standard size? Is there a size issue with the shifters and brakes becuase the bars taper down? Looking at bars and grips on line, I don't see anything about different sizes.

thanks!

If you want your bars narrow you might have an issue with the trigger style shifters. Before you cut the bar to size, position the shifters as inward as possible with your preferred forward slant then install your grips and bull bars (if they are the non-quill type). Mark the the bars where the grips (or bull bars) end then cut away.

If you find that you need the bars narrower, grips can be cut to size making them narrower too then you can cut the bar even more.
