A crazy idea, will it work? DIY aero bars

Went to the the hardware store and noticed a bathroom safety hold, the ones that are installed onto showers to for people to hold in case they slip. While I was studying it, I noticed it was the size of an aero bar and would (with some modification) fit my bike.

Now, would it work as an aero bar if I were to install it on my bike? the thing seems to be made stainless steel.

Any suggestions/flames on what an idiot i am, fire away.

why would you want to put bathroom parts on your bike????

and u have to mod them to fit, which could be kind of goofy if say they didn't tighten up properly.

I'm sure it would work, but how well? An objects original purpose was of no consequence to

The original aero bars were a homemade creation of Race Across America legend Pete Penseyres, but these days the commercial products are not that expensive and are likely going to be lighter than anything you can cobble together from bathroom parts.
