I'm sure many of the posters here are like me, a long time Tour watcher. In my case, from '85. Many
of you, I've read, from the mid to late '70's.
This TdF is not just close. Not just with 3 potential winners after the second weekend. But with two
of the TdF greats battling. With spectacular crashes and near misses. Attacks from up and comers
seeking to dethrone a long time champion chasing history. The script is incredible, the action
breathless, and if you like me think a TdF call by Phil Liggett can't be matched, then that too. All
with honest to goodness real TV coverage.
Still, after today's stage up the Tourmalet and Luz Ardiden, the gap is small enough that Ullrich
could take Lance in the final ITT. Just an amazing Tour, one that may not be duplicated for an
awfully long time.
What a privilege.
