Winners/Losers of Tour, (non rider)

View Full Version : Winners/Losers of Tour, (non rider)

Tom Nakashima

Biggest winner has got to be Bob Roll, thought this guy wasn't going anywhere, but he did alright.
Sure helped his credibility, probably will be back for next year's tour. Other winners:
1. OLN, coverage was outstanding, even the commercials were great.
2. Colorado Cyclist, good move to co-sponsor the tour, business wise.

Biggest Losers, ABC, NBC, CBS, Fox, ESPN, sure missed out on a good one. Other losers:
3. Kristen Gum, pretty face but the Miss America Pageant has plenty of those. At least find one with
a French accent.
4. LL Bean, some color please.
5. The Rednecks, probably want their channel back, before they find a cyclist who squeals
like a pig.

Robert Chambers

Add to the "winners" list, Bill Dance and (oh, I can't think of the name of the other fishing bubba
... oh ... Roland Martin) for their OLN spot. It may go a ways towards saving a cyclist or two from
an assault by a three headed monster (redneck pickup with three people in the bench seat).

Worst Commercial: Range Rover - the one where the Dhali Lama allows the SUV to pass in front of his parade and then the graphic says "RESPECT" - holy crap what a gagger.

Power Bar for the commercial free last half hour on OLN. --dt

I'm buying Power Bars and something from Colorado Cyclist, but I will never be able to bring myself
to buy that DR Mower contraption, even if I did have the money. Seriously, what are the demographics
on that thing?

That's funny -- you call Gum a loser, then rave how Bob Roll gains credibility by being paired with
her. I recall other Grand Tours where he was seated with Phil and Paul, so it looks like a demotion
to me, unless just getting a ticket to France and being on the show is seen as winning.

I still think it would be better to have a show with him fisting with Bill Dance.

I hope that's a typo.

I haven't seen OLN, but the more I hear about it, the more it sounds like the least-worst option
rather than "outstanding." For me, commentators are meant to be heard and not seen, and commercials
are what happens after the action, if ever.

If I move somewhere away from Europe, it sounds like I will have to have a personal media blackout
during the Tour, and then get the DVD later and pretend it is happening live.

To tell you the truth, all my redneckedy bass fishing buddies seem to have been paying attention to
the tour. I've been getting a lot of questions about it every day and it seems like they have really
gained a lot of respect for the racers.

Cool, maybe you could get them interested in riding, probably MTB's until they get indoctrinated.

Don't believe everything that you read on this newsgroup.

There are a lot of cry babies that are used to being spoon fed and having someone hold their hand
while another explains to them what is happening as they watch the TdF.

You got to love Kirsten Gum, she predicted Tyler Hamilton's stage win today, to the complete dismay
of Phil, Paul and Bob and probably a lot on this newsgoup that won't admit it! <VBG>

She did?

Was it early in the break? Please elaborate.

K. Gringioni doesn't have a TV

I don't think that's true. She did pick him to win the TT during a segment with Liggett and Sherwen
during the rest day coverage.

She seems to have the hots for Tyler - though she also seems to want to get it on with Bob Roll and
about any other male that she meets in the studio..

Who do you think weighs more right now - Tyler Hamilton or Kirsten Gum?

Last night on OLN pre-tour, they were all bull****ting and picking winners for today's stage.

Kirsten said she was going to go with Tyler Hamilton, and everyone just laughed it off.

I may have been mistaken and they could have been talking about the upcoming ITT but I thought that
they were talking about today's stage.

Hence, "You got to love Kirsten Gum".
