First road race win
View Full Version : First road race win
Hi all , tonite for the first time i managed a win at a criterium, it feels great. I made up my mind that in this particular race i would be really agressive and attack as much as i could. I put in about four decent attacks, along with a few others and on two occasions we nearly stayed away, on the final lap i jumped from the bunch as hard as i could and time trialed without looking over my shoulder , for some reason nobody responded, it seemed that they had given up on me. This i do not understand as there were others as strong or stronger that could have done something, perhaps its the old adage of 'action beats reaction' , who knows?; Well im off for a couple of beers to celebrate, cheers!
Congratulations!!!! Enjoy the beer.
I last won a race about 24 years ago on a P.K Ripper bmx bike. As the Boss would say "the glory days".
Hey, great stuff! I have yet to do this myself.. actually I got dropped from my first and only rr. Wearing a big jacket and the nasty cold weather never helps. Did a 30 k TT last year at 37 kph avg, standard road bike, no aerobars, that was ok.

Hi that happend to me too, i got dropped in my first road race, the pace and the positining of the riders completely fazed me . The good point is that most people have the same experiance in their first race so its just a learning curve. I find i race better when i have not respect/ fear of my fellow competitors, and i mean this in a positie way. Well i hope you achieve your goal in your next race, cheers nath1Hey, great stuff!
