Hamilton again again

View Full Version : Hamilton again again

Thomas Lund

Hamilton took 2. place in today's stage - defeating Ullrich and Armstrong (I know Ullrich
crashed and Armstrong played it safe) He took the 4. place i GC - defeating the two
Euskatel-riders. What a rider.

Can't wait to watch TdF 2004 with hopefully Armstrong, Ullrich, Beloki, Mayo, Zubeldia, Vinikourov,
Basso (I don't believe in Botero anymore) - and Hamilton at their best. Perhaps a couple of new
riders will emerge? Chavanel was promising. Michael Rogers as well. Others?

Botero suffered from fame a great deal this year. He'll be back on form next year.

Cadel isn't going to make it. On the other hand I think that Floyd Landis can make it big. And don't
forget that Tom Danielson is likely to be picked up by a Euro team that will show his climbing
talents where it counts.

How the hell did he not crash? :-) This is Tyler Hamilton we're talking about, right? Sigh, that
podium was so close.

Botero kept himself apart this year and did his own training schedule. That wont happen next year.

It was plain to all he would best Mayo and Zubeldia by 2 minutes +/- in the ITT. So where was
Euskatel on Stage 16? They did absolutely nothing in the peloton to try to pull Tyler in on his epic
stage win. Telokom did most of the work taking 2 or 3 minutes out of Tyler's lead to protect both
Vino (not to mention Zabel, still with a chance at the Green). Quickstep was up there as well. So
where as Euskatel? 4th and 5th place not worth protecting? So why did Mayo take those bonus points
from Ullrich again? I don't get it.

Floyd can do better wheelies than everyone else but he needs to work on his TT, eh?

And his TT is not too shabby.

I agree with the earlier post that Chavanel looks promising.

i don't know, reading the live report at
http://www.cyclingnews.com/road/2003/tour03/?id=results/livecomp16

it sounds like e-e did try to pull him back too, (i'm not saying how effective they were..)

for example-
14:02 CEST 103 km/96 km to go The riders are now all on the Col de Bagargui, a steep Cat. 1 climb
that should cause some damage. Euskaltel Euskadi continues to lead the peloton, in pursuit of
Tyler Hamilton's group in front, which is shedding riders now.

for me though, the most amusing part of that read is this little bit-
15:34 CEST 55 km/142.5 km to go In the peloton, a Euskaltel rider attacks on the Soudet. It's
Roberto Laiseka, who takes Mario Aerts (Telekom) and Tyler Hamilton (CSC) with him.
