Do U know why does T.D.F. always take place in France???

since 80's they talk frequently to start the tour in New York for the prologue but the issue has
never been fixed.

Because it's a Tour of France. Although they go through other neighboring European countries.

Clue #1: What is the name (not some abbreviation)? As Bob Roll would say it is the "tour day
frantz" afterall.

Stages have been held elsewhere.

As cool as it sounds to have a North American stage, it was impractical before and less so now for
the security reasons that some place will throw up and the difficulty of getting from NA to
France---with the SST offline, you are talking 8 hours of flying time (from the east coast) and that
really screws your sleep up so the first few days would be a joke.

I would rather see our own stage race...

Sure. But perhaps the prologue could work here. It's largely symbolic after all, essentially run
strictly to pick a yellow jersey wearer. And it could be separated from stage 1 by two days to deal
with jet lag and logistics.
