Taxing question

I understand possibly incorrectly the taxman will let your company buy you a bike and not tax you on
it but I know little more. Seems like a good idea especially as I am VAT registered.

Anybody know the gory detail ? Does it have to be used to go to work (which is often home for me)?
Does this extend to cycling equipment in general ?
