It would be nice if things were that simple. 9 out of 10 Thylacines go to overseas buyers, so the local market is bordering on insignificant....Yeah, I had similar probs in my business... we had more than 95% sales offshore, Europe and the USA. The locals treated us like an easy push over and always tried to screw us for extra free support, stupidly low prices etc etc. I think they thought we were a struggling local small business. Sad really. We had plenty of respect from some very big players OS. We ended up selling the business to a US company that recognised it's worth.
The local industry rags were a joke. You pay for an ad or two and you basically get to write articles about how great you are, they just put one of their "journos" names on it. Sick. Oddly, the US trade journals were of a much higher standard.
As for the oz government and it's support....... (I'll try to calm down now).
It looks like rain here soon. :(

this saga is very amusing.
Tatgate continues to evolve. Even Exxy's deleting parts of posts and links to the Tan now to minimise the fallout. Hell, I think we really can bring down the POTUS. :)

I see that TAT re-birthed as TAN has continued to attract crazy numbers of interested viewers. Although the sniff of scandal has probably helped a little bit too.
Saccy, I can see what you mean. No longer is the perfect antidote to innane questions and threads instantly available to the poor saps in the bf road forum. Oh well, their loss...maybe thay can learn why it is called the WORLD wide web and find us in our new home. :)

Anyway, no more contributions from Matagi over there, I sent off my PM asking to be removed from the member list and will not be logging back in.

OK track/SS freaks, I'm on the hunt for new spokes for the track bike after busting the head off one on the front wheel. Seems the junk they put on in the factory is a bit weak/crappy.
Any recommendations over straight DT Swiss stainless?
Anything to avoid in the DT Swiss product range?
Is tying and soldering the rear worth the effort (I'm not a wheel-breaker by any means)?

Know bugger all about spokes, though never had issues with straight DT's, and I'm currently in the super heavy weight division. Even raced at 95kg a few years back, no probs, though the bloke who built my wheels is a very good wheelbuilder.
I always tie and solder track wheels. Bugger what some of the tests say, I reckon it makes a difference laterally, especially when you are off the seat winding a sprint up. One bonus though is you are almost certain at some stage to cop a pedal in wheel on the track. Tie and soldering helps stop the spokes flopping around when they break.

FWIW, I use 15/16/15 DT's (x3) on the front wheel of my fix. I use it on the road, not on the track (none around here :( ), and I use the same spokes/lacing pattern on my road iron. Only difference is the road is 32 spokes and the fix is 36.
Rear wheels: again, cross 3 lacing, 15/16/15 off-side, 14/15/14 drive side. 5'11", approx 210 lbs (1m82, 95 kg, or very close).
Two sets of wheels for each bike, no broken spokes ever.
In my unhumble opinion, your entire problem is using facory wheels. Build your own!

Official results just rocked up so I've got all me details now:
EVCC Yarra Junction TT
25km - 84 Starters
Time - 00:43:32
Av - 34.46 kph
Av cad - 99
Av HR - 161
4th C grade
Overall placing 36th
I have no idea how these handicaps work, but anyway:
Handicap - 04:50
Corrected time - 00:38:42
H'cap placing 28th
There were some very serious TT bikes there... skin suits, aero helmets etc etc
Fastest time: 00:35:05
Fark!!

spokes?yeah, god only knows what spokes some of those production bikes have. A mate of mine bought a Gitane with those Alex rims, and the spokes seem like crap -- went out of true immediately.
The only spokes I didn't like were the DT Revolutions, and that was on a front wheel! I dunno what gauge they were, but they were very light: 152g for 32 x 292mm (without nipples), compared to 240g for the same length Champions.
I have some wheels with DB Sapims and some other brand, and I can't really tell the difference between these and the straight DT Champions, but these DB spokes weigh about 195g to 200g for 32, so they're not too light.
I reckon on a track bike you'd need as much stiffness as possible, so i'd go for the Champions. I used to have a track bike with a 40 spoke rear wheel on an Airlite hub!! I also reckon the shock absorption benefits of DB spokes are overstated.

It's tempting to submit a question to the buyer, but I can't think of anything clever enough. is that the bike rack in the back ground?

Of course not!
Let's have a poll - 'Could I be arsed? Y or N?"
I guess you have to ask whats it's worth to you, and what benifits you'll get out of it.
You have been around for a few years now and people have heard about thylacine. Maybe this type of advertising may have some benifit, as it makes the brand more tangible and look more lagit and respected.
Thats my 2 cents.

You've all f*cked off of BF!?!? Sissies! Our Dear Friend Koffee got herself into yet another fight in another thread over on the Tour page (this was about two or three weeks ago), and I wrote to the owner of the site after she killed the entire thread (sound familiar?). The thread never reappeared (it was nonsense, so no great loss), but at least I made Joe aware of it.
There doesn't seem to be any way to avoid this personality type, as from a fast perusal of the Floyd sh!t on this site I get the distinct impression that Limerickman is the local equivalent, at least from the responses alleging deletion.
I don't know exactly who she is, but I have enough info to find out; had she retaliated against me, I would've sued her sorry ass. Perhaps that's not the solution for you folks, after all you're all on the other side of the world, and let's face it, if taking people to court were an event on the Pro Tour, only Americans would ever win, but that's life, innit? (relax: I'm making an American joke!)
Don't give up the fight! Joe Gardner, bikeforums@yahoo.com is the man and his address. If I wanted somebody to monitor me, I'd move back in with my mother. I'll be double damned if I let somebody dictate what I say or how I say it. seppo seppo seppo! take that, b!tch! (and for those of you Dear Readers who are about to flame me for calling a woman a b!tch, please save me the trouble of having to write it later and go eff yourself now. That Koff is well and truly a b!tch cannot be disputed).
We of the English speaking peoples have a tradition of free speech that directly dates from the English Civil War, and indirectly dates from far before that, and any attempt to circumscribe that must be fought against, even on a meaningless bike chat forum. Come back! Fight her and all others like her! Flood Joe Gardner's mailbox with complaints! At least to strip her of Mod status.
Beyond that, nothing much is going on....it's 5.18am here in Florida...Time to get some espresso in me and get some miles in before it hits 90 (30c)....and WTF is up with you guys and the metric system? Bad enough the Brits caved in...
