ha!! I just saw a brand new orange one at Kennedy's which is Columbus MXL. A guy there had just bought the frame and fork for $2300, and says he's not even gunna ride it!! He's just gunna hang it on the wall!! Kennedy said MXL is a custom MAX tube-set that most of the Motorola guys rode in the early '90s
Sounds like the Molteni orange ltd ed. model. Nice unit.

TAT got moved back to RC and unstuck, now lost in the depths of all the "should I buy an Allez or a Tarmac?" threads. The f'wits in Foo are still mumbling about Aussie this and Aussie that like TAT upset their chi somehow.
I'm liking the new home much more

What do you guys do for rear lighting? :D I reckon the rechargeables are too much and too heavy. I had one (can't remember the brand), and it stuff up after 4 months. It's also a pain to charge everyday, or so. I have a 'normal' Cateye on the rear (2 x AAAs) and an S-SUN on the front, which uses 3 x AAAs. Cost about $20 and $25

I know every frame size needed custom lugs coz of the fat-arsed tubes = expensive

Can you see by it though? I hardly trust these newy drivers in the daytime let alone nighttime.

kotter, torpedo7.com had a mega-bargain on 15W rechargable lights recently.. They might still have a good price on them.

Yep, its sunk down to page 3 and it will now sink into obscurity... how sad... bye bye TAT.

Foo is pretty weird. I don't think even TAT had enough mindless drivel in it to fit in properly there.

Maybe every so often TAT should be dredged up with a random post just to keep it returning to the top of the pile :)

How heavy can you handle? Homebrew lights cost about 80-120, throw 30w front (nearly a car's headlight). I use a red alarm strobe on the back (xenon). I've got a fast and the furious style neon tube on the downtube for side vision.
They are about 3.5 kilos though.
Me and Cyclaholic have both got a very similar light setup if you need pointers.

Before you splash out, you might want to have a look at the article in the current issue of Australian Cyclist about what combination of lights makes a driver recognise a cyclist and at what distance. It might help you make a decision about the type of lighting you want to get. It's on page 48.

Yeah, give it a bump once a week or so :)

THANK YOU BOTH. Well if Im travelling to uni with a couple of text books plus a 3.5kg light it aint gonna be a happy commute, but doable. Ill have a look at the magazine and figure out what Im gonna do. But a homebrew headlight sounds like fun.

One of the best I say was a guy who had one on his helmet, and he'd aim it right in the eyes of drivers coming out of side streets.

Put the batt on a rack, no weight to worry about...
Getting a rack to fit most new bikes is the pain.

Yeah that's the one. On mega-sale it was $75, but that price is still probably okay - at least for a 15W anyway. I just use a triple LED I got for $20 from Kathmandu at their 50% off sale. (Just cheapo generic light with their brand I think).
It's very bright for showing drivers where you are, but not great for showing the road. Best for use on roads with streetlights. Doesn't weigh much tho.
