Ahhhhh. I see your problem... you don't understand rhyming slang....
The phrase that is used as the rhyme is not meant to in any way resemble the original word.... "septic tank" is only used because it rhymes.
e.g. "pat malone" = alone , "frog & toad"= road, etc etc.
The phrase is irrelevant, it just rhymes.

ummm, ok, so seppo is defined as what? slang for an American person, which we all know now. So whether or not it's derrogatory depends on how you use the word which is what you just pointed out with the motherfucker example. So we agree then? :confused:
i don't think so. because without context or a personal relationship derogatory words can't really be spun in a positive light.
you can't just call someone a jackass and expect people to assume you mean no harm unless you have already established you like the person, know them and are teasing, or it's some sort of pet name.
if i started calling australians....what was the term used in this thread? vickis? if i called the whole dayumm country convicts then i would be pretty hard pressed to explain why i really meant it in a positive light.

the second anyone mentions landis, ullrich, armstrong, etc. it instantly turns into "americans don't know shite about cycling" or "the french suck" or "the english have terrible food, or etc." but i can't really think of anything bad to say about australians. if i took a poll of my fellow americans and asked which country we liked the best i'm guessing australia would be one of the top two countries. we picture you as americans, but more relaxed, less fat, and more tanned.
