The Thread about Nothing....
I think Thunder and Existence make a great team. :D
Now Existance.....wanna help me put together a marketing proposal / business plan for Team Thylacine - Cascade?
:):):)
If that wasn't a match made in heaven, there never was.
See, I have plans, dreams and aspirations. Now I just need to find someone with CASH!
And someone who likes marketing, because I HATE it like nobody's business.

i welcome you to walk into my boardroom or any other boardroom in melbourne and run the above line as legit foundations for a marketing push thunder.
there is evidence, which I dont have, dont need, dont care, it was my anecdote. Deride the articles in the media, the local councils do have numbers on the increase in cycling traffic, but this has tenuous relationship to Thylo's market which I concede. However...
I never suggested the strategy, just in repsonse to Thylo's wish to get it on an A/B grader.
If you think laterally, I was merely parroting the "follow the market" marketing 101 you spruik. IF he get a bum on a bike, a lend, or at cost, or any in kind expense, it needs to be prorata to his budget, most importantly, it must atleast get some genuine impressions of potential customers. If Melbourne will never be a haven for turnover, why would he put a bum on a bike out of his pocket? But there is evidence on the increasing market, but Thlo's market, go ask him. Not my strategy, mine was more generic, but offering up some "anecdotes" you deride, which do have back-up in statistics.
I conceded my error regarding hyperbole. You can still criticise it though.
Feel free to chew me out again. This was not my marketing strategy.

kotter, there is a good light review in this months australian mountain bike if you are interested. dunno if thats been covered off here or not.
yeah I got the review. I got it from some link thylo chucked up a few pages ago. I cant find the link at the moment in the history because I spent most of yesterday researching (library journal databases) so its full of shit.
Sadly most of them are out of my range (and I dont really need some of them). the niteflux or the one on special from torpedo seven are on my shortlist. My only problem with the one from torpedo7 is: why is it marked down so much? False advertising?

Torpedo 7 seem pretty honest. They show the LBS RRP pricing, but they are paralllel importing and can undercut the shops by huge amounts. It's the distributors that dictate the otherwise outrageous prices in this part of the world.

*sigh* damn thing from torpedo7 comes with a lead acid battery. All batteries are dirty technologies but I dont want a whole heap of acid floating around my legs.

whats the rub on the BMC's Thylo?
Just this years Cervelo wonderbike? ie: next big thing? *not inferring they are new, but inferred the next bike du jour.
The specs don't match the hype?
I hope you like it 531. Don't screw the bottom bracket pushing 531 watts on the flat!

Nice one Oz... I'll be on the lookout at Casey ;)
A bloke at the club had a good win... bought an '05 SLT (in Phonak colours I think) and it was the last one available.
One of the big knobs at Phonak desperately wanted it so they gave him the current Swiss team frame for feck all more.
Horn looking bikes.

I dont understand this. Wtf is wrong with a compact? Its not like a compact is gonna break when you look at it. It certainly isnt anymore uglier than a normal frame. so whats wrong with them.

Yeah, that's why its cheaper I suppose.
Can anyone tell me if there is any reason why you couldn't swap the battery and use a NiMH or NiCAD on lights that originally used a lead acid battery? Not suggesting you should do this kotter, just interested.

531, is $1000 good for a brand new CAAD5 Cannondale frame with forks and FSA headfittings? I know you're the Aluminium frame deal king:D.
I know someone who is on holidays and saw it and the furker is just his size. Saeco Crimson colour apparently - nice. I told them offer $850 and see what the shop says.:)
R600(caad5 frame) with cheap gear (tiagra, 105 gipiemme, truativ) complete bike cheapest deal I've seen is $2500 new. Retail is over $3k.
