Webber to Red Bull. interesting. dunno if its a step forward though. on the bright side, no budget issues. back with the old jaguar team who he liked, at last a close to top knotch team mate, and Adrian Newey doing the aero design.
could be a good year but i wont hold my breath.Webber needs a reliable car under him for him to show whats he's worth.
If he's going to do anything like winning a world championship, which I think he may be capable of, and get back into a big team he needs to show what he can do with a reliable car.

I think I remember reading a race report about a Melb/Ballarat where dudes ended up with hypothermia. Nasty.
One of my mates reckons it can be a harder race than the Warny just because of the terrain & the weather.
Oh yeah, nice work on the prize too :)
I think it was 94 or 95 when I was in a group and a bloke was literally blown off his bike in to the armco, the sleet was coming in horizontally.
Tough day...I had heat cream on arms and legs under armwarmers and knee warmers. Fingers couldn't undo my jersey zip at the finish.

You are kidding aren't you? Bathurst sucks these days. Watching Foulcans and Dunnydores chasing each other around the track is about as exciting as watching paint dry.
I would really love to see a proper 24-hour at Bathurst with road cars (and the usual mods allowed for safety reasons). I remember they did something like that some years back. That might even drag me (and Mr Matagi) out there to actually watch a race. Those were the days. Williamson in his little toyota celica that revved out to 11,000rpm giving it to the falcons and toranas. Gossy in his jag. Richards in the JPS BMW 635 - man that thing looked cool. Grice sideways out of the cutting (always!), Bartlett upside down in the camaro, moffat and mr unlucky (now known as mr cranky!) in their falcon GTHO's. Ah nostalgia, I'm starting to dribble into my keyboard.
But Bathurst is an institution. Haven't missed one since 1970, don't plan on missing any for a while yet.

Oh no, I think I have to agree with Matagi on this one. I hate Bathurst.
All I can think about watching that rolling Ford/Holden Advertising campaign is I wish someone would bring back the Skyline GTRs and Cosworth Sierras.
Nothing like a bit of competition to show you how shit you are.

Cosworth Sierras! drool! Had they been available in Oz, I would have bought one in a flash. Was seriously tempted by the Skyline at the time, but alas, insufficient funds.
PS. Thylo, it's ok to agree with a woman once in a while, I promise I won't let it go to my head. :D

So you're not a fan of RX-7s?
Nope. Classic sports car styling, but that's about as far as it goes. Hate them with a passion.
Gimme a VC Valiant with a 273, lowriser manifold, tuned holley 450, headers and straight thru exhaust, slam shifter for the auto, bit of Yes blasting from the stereo and some really nice wheels. Then I'll be happy.

Not sure why people do it really...
I won't relay the long version of having to descend Falls Ck with bread bags "borrowed" form the general store as gloves when, to put it nicely, the weather turned.
