I recently had my rear wheel stolen on my bike that has Campy Athena 8 speed. I was wondering what sort of conversion I could do with a campy 9/10 or shimano 8/9 wheel to work with campy 8. I havent built a wheel before, and I cant find any prebuilt 8 speeds around. I have a campy 8 cassette.

Any help would be appreciated.

Anybody know if I could use an 8 speed cassette on a 9/10 speed wheel, and how?

The answer is yes!

I'm in the process of having it done for myself.

Here is the solution:
I just purchased a Campagnolo Proton wheelset, that has a 9/10 Campagnolo hub, but I currently have an 8 speed cassette on my other set of rims. This is how it could be done:

Purchase a Campagnolo loose cog 9 speed cassette, along with a Wheels Manufacturing Shift-8 spacing kit will allow you to convert a Campagnolo 9 or 10 speed cassette to a Campagnolo 8 speed cassette. Simply drop one of the largest cogs, and switch the original amber colored spacers with the Wheels alloy spacers.
The thinner alloy washer goes behind your largest cog and prevents the rear derailleur from contacting the spokes. The thin steel shim goes between your smallest, or first position cog and the second postion cog. First position cogs have a built in spacer. The steel shim widens this space to 8 speed width.

Thats all it takes to work for Campy, Shimano is different.
