I already have the 10-speed crankset and chainrings on the bike. I figure the only things I need to change are the right shifter, the chain, and cluster. I assume the front and rear derailleurs will work...?

Why? It won't make you go any faster.

As a disclaimer, I own no DA, so am making this statement based on what I have read on the forums combined with a little common sense.

It makes little sense to save nickels and dimes to gain one extra cog on the rear. If you have plenty of money to burn, or have a sponsor who does, then upgrade everything. Otherwise, save your money to replace the next thing that breaks.

yeah, you can use the 9-spd derailleurs with the 10spd chain (though a Shimano rep wil tell you to switch to a 10spd if there is the slightest problem):p

Ain't no such thang as a 10 speed crank. Oh, those outboard bearing BBs look sweet, but don't think they are 10 speed (even though they emerged about the same time). I have most 9 speed bikes though I do have 2 10 speed models. No big difference, save your dough. It's obvious that bling is not your style as evidenced by your plan to use a 9 speed left shifter and a 10 speed right.
