Huw Pritchard
Well, after an encounter with a SMIDSY[1] taxi driver who managed to force me into the oncoming lane
after attempting to drive straight through me as he came out of a junction this morning, I must say
that my evening commute was very pleasant.
Left work and took the cycle path out the back of the building (paths around here are actually quite
well maintained with very little rubbish on, well done Swansea City Council), slowing down briefly
for some of the local pikey kids to yell something incomprehensible at me, headed for the marina,
pausing briefly for a swing bridge which was open and waiting around at the back for the peds to
disperse, cycled back through some bits of the marina that I'd not seen before (made the mistake of
following someone who looked like they knew where they were going, but I guess they just lived in
the marina and were heading for their flat) and eventually found the seafront.
Leant the bike up against some of the sea defences, and sat myself down gazing idly out at the dim
hazy image of Devon in the distance for a good 20 minutes or so, slow ride along the seafront down
to the university, and then a brisk road ride for the last mile or so back to my house.
I wonder how my car-driving colleagues enjoyed their trip home in their cramped, hot little boxes?
