Hi everyone im new to this and pretty new to cycling. I have a trek 1000 with drop bars on it now and I was woundering if I bought bull horn bars if my brake levers would mount to the bull horn style. I am also thinking about gettting a new set of wheels and I wanted to know in riders opinions about wheel sets I can get for around $300-400. Thanks alot for the input.

Current brake levers may mount on the bullhorns, but functionality will not be great.
Take a look at:

Cane Creek levers like these are designed for Bullhorn bars.
My opinion on wheels is to buy something with parts that are easily serviceable and/or replaceble.
Your weight and riding applications will help determine what is best for you.
In that price range I would look at Ultegra hubs & 14/15 DB spokes well built.
You might even get 14/17 DB spokes front and left rear.

Yeah, they will work. Not sure why you'd want to do it, but I have seen it done. No modifications necessary.

I want to make sure we are talking about the same thing. I Have Sora Shifters that are also the brake lever...

No, Sora will not work on Bull Horns. You need the STI Levers with the paddle behind the brake lever (ST-R500)!

The cheapest way is to fit seperate brake levers on the bull horns and 8 Speed Shimano Bar End Shifters (SL-BS64) on the ends of a set of Aero Bars.

If you want a cheaper "reto" look some cheap Twist Grips on the Aero Bars will work ok. ;)

You could put them on, but trying to use them effectively, especially for shifting, would be very awkward. Every cyclist that you passed would think you rather odd.
