I bought a top swing bottom pull F/D ... after a while I realised my current F/D is top swing top pull .. so

how to convert? is it possible???.....Yes, you can convert a SHIMANO top swing, MTB front derailleur from top pull to bottom pull ... and, vice-versa ... if you are moderatly handy.

This is most easily done with a file with a regular-size (~8" long, not counting the tang/handle) TRIANGULAR cross section ... while you can possibly use a flat file OR a dremel tool, I think you will find those to be quite troublesome because of the space you are going to be working in.

Essentially, you will want to file a shallow (probably, no more than 1mm) groove at the two PIVOT POINTS to guide the cable whereby the front derailleur cable will OVER THE TOP of the derailleur cable anchor's "casting" and thereby make it into an ad hoc bottom pull front derailleur.

The first "groove" (on the top) will be near the middle of the casting ... the second "groove" will also be near the middle of the casting.

I do NOT know how this will/won't affect the indexing with a triple crank ... so, the results may not be satisfactory.

With a Shimano 105 road shifter, I needed 3-clicks (I think '2' is normal, so I was borrowing one index click that would have normally been used when indexing for a triple) to move the derailleur on a double crank with a bottom-to-top pull converted XT derailleur ... and currently, I am using a Campagnolo ERGO which has even more flexibility with regard to the front derailleur.

Dab some flat black paint on the "exposed" metal if cosmetics are important to you.
