Anyone carry a gun while touring?

Just wondering how many carry a weapon while touring long distances and how many have run into situations where they were glad they did or wish they had?

Occasionally laypeople will ask me if I carry a gun while touring. Obviously they don't get it. I can't imagine why anyone would do that.

As much as we would like to believe in the goodness in everyone, it simply isn't the case. There plenty of crazy people out there who couldn't give 2cents about you and can be set off by simply looking at them wrongly; therefore, i can't imagine why someone wouldn't even take the time to consider positive and negative aspects of it.
