Race management software
Does anyone know of any good race management software? Yes, I know putting up an Excel sheet of the results is fine for what a lot of people want, but I'm hoping for a bit more --- ability to track people over multiple races, show team stats, etc etc. Ideally, web based.

Hi,
Try www.raceforever.com (http://www.raceforever.com). It has a comprehensive Free Excel Spreadsheet system for race day when the web is not available, and an Access database for historical results, personel, and grading management.
The spreadsheet is always free, and contains over 10,000 lines of VBA code to make data entry fast and easy.
The Access database is free for the 12 month trial period and then payment is required.
The Australian ACT Veteran Cycling Club has been using the two integrated systems since January 2004. www.ACTVETS.cc (http://www.ACTVETS.cc).

Race management software
Unfortunately due to the high demand for the spreadsheet and the amount of hours I have put into updating the system to allow for clubs with race numbers assigned on the day (And clubs with fixed race numbers, I have decided to charge an initial fee of $100AUS for the spreadsheet and $50 for each there after.
Additional features added since my post in 2007:
Time trials now can record and produce results with hundreds of seconds.
You can search for a member using predictive typing
Simple Excel functions (that are really hard to incorporate!!) are catered for:
Basic Undo, ReDo
Row Delete and Insert
You can use the spreadsheet for the first year for free, but the licence will run out after 365 days.

Race management software
Just added functionality for a "criterium wheel race". Where all grades are in the one race either staggered around the crit track, different start times, or just an "All Grades In" start. But all first past the post for the entire field.
Vikings CC have an "All Grades" Super crit which is suitable for this situation.
ACT Vets CC have A criterium wheel race whihc is a 4 lap All grades in Event, held after graded heats to select 5 riders from each grade.
Current Race Types catered for:
Championship - Age standard race divided by gender and age division
Criterium - Graded race A-G and Womens A (WA)-WB
Criterium Points - Graded points race multiple primes up to 25
Criterium Teams and/or points - Same as above but additionaly by Team
Criterium Wheel race - Described above
Graded Race - Finish times and result by grade
Handicap - Graded with sub divisions IE A1, A2 to G1, G2, and WA1 - WC2
Start and finish times - First past the post
Handicap (Secret) - All in start but winner determined by the preset handicap for each grade and sub grade
Time Trial - Graded time trial
Time Trial Age Standard - Time for course comnpared to the age standard to determine the winner.

WHY?
The First race I directed had about 80 participants.
I was handed a print out of the race times.
I was given the hand written list of names.
I was give a list of race numbers.
Similar to this:

I then spent the next three hours manually typing in everything, and I did not realy know how to collate the results anyway!!
"Bisogno cambiá qualcossa de drio!" Tulio Campagnolo was talking about replacing Wing Nuts with a Quick release, I'm talking about replacing manual error prone results with fully automated systems!
