I'm planning on cycling up to Santa Barbara from Los Angeles, and I'm weary of my own assumption that just take PCH all the way up.

Anybody know of a good route to get up there?

Also, how long should I expect this to take for an average speed rider?

Thanks in advance! :D

PCH goes to Oxnard and then you'll want to take Wooley Rd to Harbor Rd into Ventura along Hwy 101 (there is a cycling path that parallels 101 up through Rincon), jump on 101 to SB or PCH to Rice Ave. in Oxnard cross 101 into Somis, (check map for route #w) and over hill into Santa Paula and over hill again into Oaji, over hill again through Casitas Pass and into Carpinteria and on up to Monticito and SB.

From Camarillo to SB on the Oaji route it took me Seven hours with snack stops ... 75 miles.

From Malibu add 35+ miles to route ... the PCH-101 route is shorter and less scenic.

The big hill is the Santa Paula to Oaji (long not steep) and Casitas Pass (medium steep but not too long.).

Great riding,

tom
