Been doing some serious k's on my mountain bike lately as I love the mud and there's less bodies around but I have developed a nasty rash between my ball sack and inner thigh. Any suggestions on what oinment or such I can use?

I do always ride commando with a decent chamois supporting my future children if you were wondering. http://www.cycling.net.au/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif

thanks in advance...

I find 3B cream works well for me. Apply a small amount before ride. You can buy it at any chemist's or I think Woolies sell it.

thanks in advance...Get some "No Frills" Skin Repair Cream from Woolies. Cost about $1.60.
Mix a tablespoon of honey into it and stir till dissolved. Apply often.
Works better and quicker than antibiotics and soothes the rash. Put some on before you ride too. It's water soluble so won't harm the chamois and will wash out easily.
Mainstream medicine has just rediscovered the benefits of honey as an antibacterial agent. It's amazing stuff...great for grazes and burns etc. It has to be slightly diluted with water to work properly, but there is enough water in the skin repair cream to take care of that.
It's cheaper and more effective than the medi-honey from chemists.

Honey as a topical antibacterial agent for treatment of infected wounds

Animals may try to lick the affected area...ride faster.

Zinc and castor oil cream - available in the baby section of any supermarket. Works for nappy rash and works just as well for "Rider's Rash".

OK here's a tip. Stop sitting on your scrotum :D

Seriously!

I was doing the same until the penny finnaly droped. Now I make sure my boys are pulled up forwards in my shorts before I start. Sure it may show them off a little, cue the Tom Boonen or the Polish team shot but it SURE beats the saddle sores you are getting. Basicaly its skin abrasion so treat it like any other skin abrasion to heal it. I find that a good quality Coconut oil is an excelent skin cream and will help to heal the abrasion.

I was being serious actualy. The boys would have to be in a funny place to sit on them but its easy enough to sit on the base of your scrotum and the results of that are what you have described. Your getting a fold in the skin and you are pinching them.

You only want to put your weight on your sit bones and they are only a fraction behind your scrotum so its easy enough for there to be an issue.

Try adjusting your saddle. Setting up your saddle with just the slightest of nose down angle may help significantly.
