Hi guys
I have recently dug my Pine Mountain out of retirement, but am looking to upgrade.
What bike would you recommend for around £1000??
I weigh around 16 and a half stone, and am 6feet tall, but am not fat!!lol
What size frame would be ideal, would full or half suspension be possible.I would be using the bike for pleasure and not competition at the moment.
I have been out of things for quite a few years as I am now 41, any help would be appreciated.
Also where to get the prospective bike from would be a great help also.
I live in Manchester, uk
thanks in advance

Hi, I'm into touring bikes, but I would recomend you check out your LBS for the sizeing. You can do some research yourself at http://sheldonbrown.com/frame-sizing.html before you go there.
As for a bike, there are many quality bikes out there, a friend bough a Specialized Allez for around that price, If I had the money I would go for a Tricross (http://www.specialized.com/bc/SBCBkModel.jsp?spid=22307), I believe its a more all around bike and the longer wheel base will give a more smoother ride.
Hope it helps some
cheers

Hi,
I think there is a specific mountain bike section somwhere on this forum - that might be a better place to post.
1000 pooonds is a lot of money and is sure to get you one nice machine - I'll offer my views on road bikes if you would like.

Rasher, this place is pretty dead.
If you really want your question answered, I would go here:

and post in the Beginners section.
That's my advice!
