After bronchitis
I'm on antibiotics at the moment for a chest infection, and I've been off the bike for just over two weeks. My course finishes the day after tomorrow and I still have a slight cough. It's nothing serious, just the occasional cough every hour or so.
I know I should stay off the bike, but I'm getting fidgety and wanna get going. My question is: will doing short spins at recovery level do me any good? I know it won't tax my system such that it interferes with my recovery from the infection, but will it help prevent losing fitness?
Or should I just stay off the bike until I cough no more?
I once knew a guy who never let himself recover and he coughed all the time. I don't want to be him!

Well, it's a nice sunny (but chilly) day, I've just watched Cancellara win the stage in yellow, so I'm all fired up to ride.
But you know what? I'm staying in. Thinking about it has made me choose to stay in, shed the last vestiges of a cough so I can get out there and train properly rather than just dribble around at 120 watts.
I'm not preparing for a race any time soon - although the club championships are soon - and I'm in this to have fun, not compound illness by riding when I shouldn't.
