Yeah - we've got a few on our team. In fact - I think they have some team sponsorship deal too.

I should probably post this to rec.bicycles.tech, but...
Has anyone had any experience with Renn disc wheels? I see that they're about 200g heavier than the
Zipps, but for $319, I mean, how bad could it be...?

It's a cheap disk wheel, and it's aero. Sure it's heavier, but if it's a TT aero is more important
than weight, and being cheap as hell. I have one, it works pretty well. No complaints.

200 grams? That's almost 1/2 lb of spinning weight. Not bad for training, but I would want a better
advantage for a race.

What kind of disk do you use in time trials?

In a flat TT, and extra 200g will have a negligible effect on your time. In a hilly TT it will
have a fairly small effect. Weight is weight, whether spinning or not. And if you compare it to
the combined weight of rider and bike (about 80 kg on average) then it's really not much (0.25%
weight gain).
If you were really fanatical about weight, you could easily lose 200g in a week, given a fairly
lenient calorie-restricted diet. e.g. just live off potatoes :-)

A relative of mine's company manufactures the composite sheets for Renn. Frank Rehnelt, who
basically IS renn, is a stickler, and dismissed the previous supplier due to QC issues. Renn could
sell a lot more discs if not for his perfectionism. Hpefully, they can ramp up a little higher
production rates and meet the rising demand for their reasonably priced, reasonably light wheels.
