Jeff,
I have been searching for someone with a similar allergy to chicken for some
time now. Sorry to hear about your recent allergy, but I must warn you, it
is only going to get worse! Here is my story:
6yrs ago, after eating chicken, I began to notice a "lump" in my throat.
Then as weeks passed, it got progressively worse...my lips, the inner
linings of my mouth, and my tongue. All dependent upon how much I ate.
Now, however, I go into full blown anaphylactic shock! My throat will close
shut, the inner lining of my mouth will swell to the point that speech isn't
a possibility, and my face will swell up like Will Smith's in the movie
Hitch--all from 1 bite of chicken. Now, as advised by the doctor, I am to
carry an epi pin with me at all times AND I am to have one at home for
emergencies! Now, if I dip a touth pick in chicken broth, my allergic
reaction is about the same as if you ate a whole piece of chicken.
I've tried everything you think of...and all of the recomendations that were
offered to you. However, none of them worked and the allergy progressively
worsened. When I went to see a doctor, the only explanation was; "Right
around 22 to 24yrs of age, ones immune system changes, and some of those
changes include changes in allergies! And ones immune systems goes through
such changes every 10 to 12yrs."
So now, approximately once a month, I get my touth pick, dip it in chicken
broth, and pray not to get swollen....
Tyrone
