as benzene in sodas? Or this largely
fears running wild? Much like with how
people are scared of artificial sweetners

While haven't thought real deeply on the subject recently, here is my
take on
the subject. There are low levels of benzene in diet and provide
it stays below a certain threshold, the body can likely deal with
the damage. In industrial setting workers get large
doses thru the use of paint thinner (oil based paint thinner
is a crude refinery product that can contain about 1 or 2
percent benzene. Moreover, people are exposed to doses
of related aromatic hydrocarbons. And then there is the
issue of the exposed population nutritional status. An old
east block study of industrial workers showed a modest
increase vitamin C helped lower levels of a visible marker of benzene
of
damage. Is benzene dangerous, it depends on the dose.
If you buy gasoline, stay up wind of the vapors. If
you use paint thinner, do so with an air stream carrying the
vapors away and a really really good pair of gloves.
Industrial grades of xylene and toluene also may contain
some level of benzene. Even industrial grade DMSO may have
a little benzene.


Anyway, I not assume either sucralose or aspartame is
fully safe. Personally I try to avoid sucralose like a disease.
It truly is a foreign chemical to the body. I do think much of
what is writtten about aspartame in the way of concerns
is bogus but that doesn't give it a clean slate. When
I was taking PPI meds, aspartame seemed to be
a headache trigger. I doubt it is methanol issue and more likely
some issue related to asparatic acid.

While the molecule that gives saccharin is likely safe, it
has an impurity that is likely a co-carcinogen.

Remember that are cottage industries based on supporting
or attacking things like benzene, pesticides, or sweetners.
There is always someone who will whore for the dollar
or even just for an argument. Just because he or she has
a degree doesn't mean they aren't selling your life
down the river.

After reading numerous nurtrition books, I would avoid anything that
does not grow naturally in the soil (fruits, vegetablles). Thus I
would avoid sodium benzoate, artifical sweetners and so on
