Wondering if anyone could recommend any bikes in the AUD$1000 to $1200 range?
In Perth and looking to get into it.

What sort of riding are you looking at doing? Roads, touring, bike paths, rail trails, singletrack, extreme MTBing, ... ?

At that price point it's quite easy to get a lot of value for your money, depending on your needs.

Good point. Ideally, I would want something I can ride to work every day and do some (resonable) off road biking. I wouldn't be doing anything too extreme but like to have the option to take a fairly decent bike down some hills.

For $1200 try and pick up a 2003 Giant Mountain bike when the 2004 bikes come out

often bike shops will try and unload old stock at a fair discount when the new stuff comes in.

And the best thing is its that time of year right now!
