My new wheelset...
Hello everyone, I'm just new to the forum, so hello to everybody!!!
Seriously, I have a question, I'm going to get me a new set of wheels for road racing. I composed the parts myself:
- Mavic CXP33 rim's (black colour)
- Campagnolo Record front and rear hubs
- Sapim CX-ray spokes (metal colour)
And all this beauty only for 420$
Now my question to you, do I have here a really good wheel for competition racing? I used to have Ksyriums SL, but I didn't like them, Mavic uses industrial parts for this wheel and the only good thing about them is the low weight, for the rest there not really great.

So if you have any comment on my new wheel set, I'd love to hear it. Maybe you could improve my wheelset by suggesting me to use other hubs that are even better then Campagnolo Record (which I seriously doubt... ;-)

Thank you

PS: when the wheels are made I'll post a pic of them + my comments on them

Oh and by the way, I'm selling my Ksyrium SL's their only 4months old and I ask 350$ for them + if you want them you have to pay the shipping costs (I live in Belgium). Interested? Mail or PM me.

It would be a fair thing to say that the Ksyriums would be a lot better wheelset that the CXP's. Saying that, the CXP33's are not a bad wheelset to race on. But i have just upgraded from the CXP22 to Ksyriums and i find them heaps better to race on. But thats just my opinion.

i love the cxp33's and in my opinion, with this build-up they r a very similar wheel to the ksyrium sl you have used previously. They r not the lightest rim available but r semi aero, and very strong, Campag hubs may not be the lightest either but they roll as well as anything and ensure 100% compatibility with your running gear, while cx-ray spokes are arguably the best around. good choices all around should ensure a long-lasting and fast set of wheels. Good luck.

cxp33's are low end mavic's
ksyriums are high end mavic's

so how come you want to buy a lower model of mavic if you didnt like the high end mavic?

i think ksyriums are one of the best wheelset's around. i had an SSC-SL and elite ksyriums and both of them worked very well on races. and i never heard of any of my friends who broke their ksyriums.

well Campagnolo record hubs are so smoth and u can ajust them and the haev BALLS not some 10000km replace sealed unit i just go my self a pair of new Voliocity areo head off set rims only come in black but they are aswome. i found that u can't pumpa hp real hard on a mavic. they reckermend 120psi i use conti supra sonic' s and pump 200 PSI into em. and i used volicity areo on the track and had a pair of volicty razos built up on 105 hubs.
and trained on CXP 21 forund em a bit soft and tyre came off to easy when i ran over something that most wheels would handle. but Record hubs are smooth u would find lighter but campagnolo will last a life time. go for a standard spoke patteren depeding on how many spokes u use becasue radial voids wantry on hubs, and can crack ur flags!
