Greetings all,

Trying to get my nephew's department store bike back up and running for him. The BB is very sloppy, and he's managed to strip the left crank arm on the shaft.(arm was aluminum) Is it possible to just go to my LBS for parts, or are they gonna laugh me outa the store?

Well, if it's a good shop that actually wants business, they'll help you out. If not, well...

They should be able to get some parts that'll work for you.

Thats what they're there for...just hope it makes sense to fix the old one. Repairs sometimes cost more than a new bike

It's always worth going for the fix just to learn something about how things work IMHO. It also seems a bit sad not to, reflective of a throwaway culture that seems endemic.
