Sinkewitz confesses - "Sammy the Bull" Gravano. Will he turn states...?
Looks like the charter is working... he may open the lid on doping at the new T-Mobile so he can get out of paying his fine ?
_____________
German rider Patrik Sinkewitz of T-Mobile has declined to get his B-sample analysed. His A-sample was tested positive (http://www.cyclingnews.com/news.php?id=news/2007/jul07/jul18news4) for testosterone.
The B-sample was supposed to be opened today, but Patrik Sinkewitz, after initially requesting (http://www.cyclingnews.com/news.php?id=news/2007/jul07/jul20news3) the B-sample, has now declined to ask its opening. This effectively makes him testing positive in the June 8th incident.
AFP reports that Michael Lehner, the lawyer for Sinkewitz, has sent in a fax stating that his client waived the rights to get a counter analysis done. The German rider will now likely be suspended for two years, although there is some speculation that he will become a key witness, like Jörg Jaksche (http://www.cyclingnews.com/news.php?id=news/2007/jul07/jul01news). Depending on how much he tells this could mean a reduced sentence under UCI rules.
Lehner has publicly stated that he always tells his clients to come out in the open (http://www.cyclingnews.com/news.php?id=news/2007/jul07/jul23news2) if they have to say something. It could be interesting to see if Sinkewitz will detail more about any other doping activity going on at T-Mobile, or if he was indeed an isolated case.
The contract with T-Mobile had been ended immediately, as Christian Frommert, the director of sponsoring communication at Deutsche Telekom AG, already indicated. "The fact that [Patrik] Sinkewitz declined his B-sample to be analysed means he doesn't contest the finding of the A-sample result and we have a case of doping."
Rolf Aldag, the general manager of the team, said Tuesday morning that "we made this decision [to cancel the contract] following the announcement [of not requesting a B-sample analysis]." Aldag, who admitted to doping in his career himself, continued that he hoped there would be "collaboration between Patrik, the German federation and T-Mobile. Patrik needs to sit with us on the table and explain himself so that nothing stays uncovered."
The 26 year-old was the hope of presenting the new German generation of younger riders in the fight against doping. He has signed the UCI agreement before the Tour and faces to pay one year of salary towards the anti-doping fight.

Excellent. Lets hope he spills - even if that means Rogers. I want honesty. Bring em down. Aldag must go.Here's an e-mail I got ref. Rogers, which I received soon after Rogers cut ties with Dr. Ferrari.
Background: Matt DeCanio was one of the top racers on the US U23 team. I believe his age was 20 or 21 when if finished second to Rogers at the G.P. de Beauce in Canada, which was the highest rated UCI stage race in North America at the time.
In 2002 I finished 2nd place to Michael Rogers in the G.P. de Beauce overall. I asked Michael if he was racing clean after he took the lead from me in the time trial. He never responded. Now I am finding out that he was working with a doctor who blood doped racers in the past. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michele_Ferrari
I demand that Michael Rogers give me the victory in the 2002 Grand Prix de Beauce as I was racing completely clean. There is no reason to work with Dr. Ferrari unless you are blood doping.

Matt DeCanio later apologised fort that remark and admitted that he lied and that Rogers did say he was riding clean.....

Sinke issued a statement today in which confessed using the above-mentioned product. On top of it all and very revealingly he declared he had used it "instinctively". :D

From EuroSport:
"I had been using a product called Testogel, which is supplied by the company Jenapharm, to balance testosterone deficits. The gel is applied on the skin and absorbed into the body. It helps the body to recover after hard training."
"Without thinking, in a moment of huge stupidity, I applied some to my upper arm in our training camp in France in the evening before a dope test. I did this instinctively and without thinking of the possible results."
Is he saying that treating "testosterone deficits" is acceptable and common among cyclist.
I am puzzled at his comment (in bold). He did it instinctively?

I am puzzled at his comment (in bold). He did it instinctively?Yeah. I think he is saying he does it alot and used it the night before a dope test without thinking of the consequences. I suppose some people would regard creams as not being the same as taking it in a vein. But its the same dope either way.
And it sounds a little like the saddle cream story. Could be just a watered down lie to confuse the motive and means.

This is the Matt DeCanio who sells cars for a living? The same guy who was busted for EPO within a year of the time period you are talking about?

Sinkewitz has had his day in the hearing.
Former T-Mobile rider Patrik Sinkewitz has testified before German cycling authorities in a bid to receive a lenient sentence for doping.
Sinkewitz tested positive for elevated testosterone levels during training on June 8, a month before the Tour de France started.
The German cyclist was fired by T-Mobile after saying he had rubbed his arm with a testosterone gel called Testogel.
Sinkewitz gave the Germany cycling federation "useful information" about how the systems work in the sport, according to his lawyer.
He did not specify what Sinkewitz said about the use of performance-enhancing drugs in the sport.
"He did not point a finger at other riders, no names were mentioned," Michael Lehner told the German news agency DPA.
Lehner said he expects German authorities to make a decision about Sinkewitz within two weeks, calling for a "fair ruling: no more than a one-year suspension".
Sinkewitz also faces a possible two-year ban from world cycling authorities if found guilty of doping.

Sinkewitz has had his day in the hearing.
He did tell a lot to the German Federal Police (BKA), the state prosecutiuon and the German Cycling Federation (BDR). One of the things he told was that team doping at TM continued after Ullrich was sent home before the start of the 2006 Tour. The riders became blood transfusions from the team doctors during that Tour and were at the university of Freiburg in the month before the 2006 Tour for the same reason....

Why was Ullrich using outside doctors that required him to travel to Madrid instead of the team doctors?

There were reports last year that Fuentes was seen in.... Freiburg...It was a report in May 2007 in the Gazzetta Dello Sport. They wrote that CONI investigater Ettore Torri received this information from the German state prosecution (which is investigating the role of TM's team doctors in the Telekom doping skandal, TM had a contract with the university and the docs were working for that university).

I thought part of the evidence against Ullrich involved proof that he had been in Madrid on certain dates.
Was Fuentes storing blood for the doctors at Freiburg? Or maybe when Ullrich left T-Mobile for Coast he was forced to change to Fuentes and then continued even when he went back to T-Mob.

Its unkown what Fuentes did in Freiburg. There was a report that he met Ullrich and Basso but the state prosecuter (Bonn) did not confirm that to me (I asked him a couple of months ago).
I am trying to find out more about a possible connection between Fuentes and the university. I will have a lot of phone calls to do tomorrow and on Monday....
Fact is that Ullrich became a huge pay-off after he was sacked by TM, this could be the reason...

By the way: Sinkewitz also spoke about his time with Lefevere. Sinkewitz was interrogated for 6 hours. But we know that Lefevere's QS are clean and that even with the knowledge that is becoming available about T-M, Disco is still "the dirtiest team in cycling."

He reportedly testified about systematic doping at QS.
I can't wait for LeFevre to take a fall. Its been a long time coming.
