1 1/4 Aheadset Stem

Any one help with information on sourcing a 1 1/4 inch 120mm stem for my old Cannondale. I recently got knocked off the bike and the stem and handlebars need replacing. I am really struggling to find a replacement stem and seems a waste to buy a new bike. Alternatively I have thought about getting a shim made to reduce the diameter down to a more conventional 1 1/8, is this advisable. Cheers John:confused:
