Ahem... Ref. P#521. You never saw that episode of Family Guy? Peter's father is getting on his case for not being religious so he goes in search of a religion, but ends up forming the church of the Fonz.
I guess I could have referenced the episode of Married with Children when Al sets up the Church of NOMAMM.

It was easier when there were more active threads. Now that the season is winding down and the Unnamable has chased a lot of people off, you are SOL.
You could post to the "thread about nothing" to boost your count. The problem with that it is somewhat incomprehensible. It appears to be a combination of aussie slang and popular culture/current events that often make it opaque to us sepos. It sort of reminds me of when I saw Oasis being interviewed on MTV and they were forced to subtitle the interview.A big element in the early influences of Australian culture were the cockney convicts and settlers who arrived in the early to middle of the 19th century. The Australian penchant for slang is similar to cockney. And Australia is fairly loose with its censuring and guidelines for TV broadcasts. It isn't uncommon to get "bloody" and "piss" and other soft swear words on the nightly news. The Australian Tourist commission did an advertisement for British television recently where they had an attractive Australian model (Lara Bingle) telling Brits "Where the bloody hell are ya??" It was quickly pulled off the air. But this was an Australian Government production!!
Also in Australia, the term "stuff" or "stuffed" is synonymous for "fark" or "farked". This creates for Australians visiting America, an interesting sign above the cash register at Build-a-Bear, which reads,
"AFTER YOUR CHILD HAS CHOSEN A BEAR ,YOUR CHILD CAN GO TO THE ROOM AT THE BACK AND STUFF IT THEMSELVES."

She wasn't offended as a result of not seeing the episode. Its pretty obvious its from Family Guy. If she was feigning offense at all, it was probably because it was a statue blaspheming Jesus Christ. However, I don't think she was offended. The whole reaction was most likely exaggerated. Or was it?
I've found its easy to get meanings crossed, especially sarcasm, when you don't use emoticons. Trouble is: emoticons = girls = gay. Though I am the one guy, who uses them, who isn't gay.:p (Although my boyfriend thinks I'm gay).:D

I am happy that Fernando Alonso crashed out in Japan today. Karma's a bitch.
Too bad about the Ferraris. I am sure Kimi would have won today.

Some trivia re. "The Fonz": ABC and the producers of the show had a disagreement on Fonzie's attire. ABC didn't want him to wear a black leather jacket, because they thought it was a less than wholesome image for their cutesie idealistic 50's show (Fonzie wore mostly red or white jackets in the first couple of series). After the producers remonstrated, ABC finally allowed the producers to dress Fonz in a black leather jacket, but only if he is riding or around his motorcycle in the scene. The producers responded by putting a motorcycle in every scene that Fonzie appeared, including indoor scenes.
Also in the first season, Richie had an older brother, named Chuck, who, though rarely seen (usually on his way to basketball practice), was basically written out of the story after season 1, with no explanation for his disappearance. The phenomana of characters inexplicably disappearing from TV series' is now referred to as the "Chuck Cunningham Syndrome" in entertainment circles. (trivia source: Wikipedia)

The higher the post count in this thread, the funnier it looks on the GT forum page next to its thread title. :D
Klodi, you could be getting etched into the annals of Cycling Forums folklore. Members in 20 years time may nostalgically refer to the "Klodifan: This forum is dying" thread.

I see you're keeping up the unwritten "This forum is dying" thread rule of posting some eye candy every 5-6 pages.
But I don't get the relationship to the sentence in bold? Sorry, I read your post again......it was collateral undamage:) .

I'm now replacing the Troll Slayer's picture in my mind with your new image find. Of course, day-to-day, the Troll Slayer is disguised as a nerdish cycling dorkette with appropriate flat-pane spectacles.;)
However the above image still doesn't hold a candle to NNS.

Bro - nothing personal intended on that Worlds RR picks thread I just posted on. I imagine you as the sort of guy who doesn't assume a different viewpoint in a debate means anything personal.
But speaking of imagining you - I'm having a hard time not picturing you as looking like Chow Yun-Fat due to your avatar.:D

Cranky, it's a complete hijack (but what isn't on this surrealist's dream of a thread) but do you know anything about the USA's Zimbabean winger who skinned Habana tonight. Easily the fastest man at RWC and possibly, with the sole exception of our local flaky, speedster, Tom Varndell, the fastest in the game, period. For non-believers, apologies. This will all be completely, incomprehensible gibberish (at least it's wholly in keeping) and will probably result in this thread finally being locked.

Haven't played international rugby since a knee-smash took me out of the game in 1992. Haven't really followed it due to the paucity of coverage here in the US.
However I have played Zimbabwe in sevens rugby. They were eating steaks every meal at the tournament hotel while we were eating pasta. It helped us to beat them I think. The high protein diet is not great for endurance.
And BTW - Anyone is welcome here at anytime on any subject except you-know-what.

Hey, who can't love Chow Yun Fat? Especially in a film that used more than a 100,000 rounds of ammunition during filming.

no way, I think sophie is a natural beauty, just like NNS :) and yeah, I must have missed your other post. lol
I'm just waiting for Tommy to use both in one sentence. I'm sure it will be explosive for him...
Gee, thanks, Klodi. :)
My beauty was very, um, natural this weekend. I spent it at a scorching hot baseball tournament which felt more like an Iraqi dust storm. Even the parents looked like they had been rolling around in the dirt when it was over! Grandma always said you gotta eat a peck of dirt before you die...
BTW, go easy on us old folks saying things like you are too young to remember the Fonz :p .

BTW, go easy on us old folks saying things like you are too young to remember the Fonz :p .You're lucky with the weather. It's been raining non-stop here in Seattle for the last couple of days. Hopefully the storm will pass so I can get on my bike. We've had some damage to a tree-house from the storm and I don't think I can repair it. I think I'll just do away with it altogether. The kids probably won't be happy. But they'll probably forget soon enough as they're getting older.
Winter seems to be coming quicker this year in the Pacific Northwest. Yet the east coast seems to be getting an extended summer (and drought). I think the midwest weather is not that great at the moment.

Well, I'd be worried if I were you guys. I fully expect a counter-attack by Edie! :p
I'm going to be pretty busy to be posting a lot but I hope everyone else keeps the thread going. I do check in for the avatar changes, LOL, even if I don't post anything. Braveheart was a good one.
I saw an avatar today of a forest fire... Thought about putting it up since it was so hot here today, but I figured nobody would know what I meant. I'll just be boring and stick with the butterfly. Til some other funny idea pops in my head...
The forum lives! :)

Well, here the weather will change from summer to winter in a day it seems. Hoping for an autumn to last longer than a weekend. I hope you have some sunny days soon...
