Looking at your sig, we need a poll on favorite Blackadder episodes. I liked the second season one where Blackadder holds a drinking contest and his hyper religious relatives show up with crosses on their shoulders and around their necks. The one where Blackadder is short on cash and Percy discovers how to convert lead to green was good also.
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/0/07/Blackadder_II_-_Beer.jpg

One of my favorites was ,I believe, the last regular BlackAdder ever made. He cooks up a plan to get out of the army by wearing underwear on his head, until he hears what happened to the last person who tried it. Ends with the words... Sheerest of optimism to think they would notice one more looney in this place.

Have to pull out the disc set and look for others. I miss that show, and really prefer it's humor to his more physical routines that came later.

I saw an avatar today of a forest fire... Thought about putting it up since it was so hot here today, but I figured nobody would know what I meant.Well you're right about that one - nobody would know what you meant.

Well, here the weather will change from summer to winter in a day it seems. Hoping for an autumn to last longer than a weekend. I hope you have some sunny days soon...Yes.....sunny days would be good for getting out on the bike. I've been holed up here and I'm playing this new song on the stereo about a thousand times on a loop and I think someone is going to shoot me if I don't turn it off and get out in a hurry.

Alas....I just checked weather.com. It's raining for the next ten days. Looks like winter weather for Seattle is here for awhile, maybe 6-7 months. Can you bike in Ski gear?

Oh and Edie...:( .

BTW How do you insert thumbnails, pictures from one's hard disk, and substitute labels over hyperlinks?  I'm lost on how everyone is able to do these things.

It had its moments but I am not a huge fan of comedies that try to be more than comedies. I typically like comedies with no socially redeeming features, films like Animal House, Dumb and Dumber, Porky's, Harold and Kumar Got To White Castle, Police Academy, Fear of a Black Hat, etc. Most romantic comedies are an attempt to appeal to multiple interests. Occassionally it can work, like There's Something About Mary, but usually the result is really weak, like the usual crap from Adam Sandler.

You are forgetting Airplane!. (the exclamation point is part of the title, not part of the comment on my part)

I like comedies period.

Team America ("America..F#*K YEA!......Commin' to save..the Muthaf#*kin' day yea!)
Dumb and Dumber ("that John Denver is full of shit man!)
Raising Arizona ("You want to find an outlaw, hire an outlaw. You want to find a Dunkin' Donuts, call a cop.")

A big element in the early influences of Australian culture were the cockney convicts and settlers who arrived in the early to middle of the 19th century. The Australian penchant for slang is similar to cockney. And Australia is fairly loose with its censuring and guidelines for TV broadcasts. It isn't uncommon to get "bloody" and "piss" and other soft swear words on the nightly news. The Australian Tourist commission did an advertisement for British television recently where they had an attractive Australian model (Lara Bingle) telling Brits "Where the bloody hell are ya??" It was quickly pulled off the air. But this was an Australian Government production!!

Also in Australia, the term "stuff" or "stuffed" is synonymous for "fark" or "farked". This creates for Australians visiting America, an interesting sign above the cash register at Build-a-Bear, which reads,

"AFTER YOUR CHILD HAS CHOSEN A BEAR ,YOUR CHILD CAN GO TO THE ROOM AT THE BACK AND STUFF IT THEMSELVES."
"Stuff" is not in common usage these days, although "poke" and "root" are still popular terms to describe sexual intercourse.

Your post also reminds me of an amusing story regarding an Australian show which was being pitched to a US network back in the '70s. Apparently there was a scene where a young boy falls out of a tree, breaks his arm and then complains "it hurts like buggery". The US network execs were absolutely horrified because they thought the child was referring to having anal intercourse. (that is, of course, the origin of the phrase from way back in our convict past, but most people down here don't realise that)

Oh damn, this is getting ridiculous, could you two boys at least stick to one thread for your stupid back & forth argument?

Let me be clear, nobody cares what either of you have to say.

Equal rights for women, I say! :pThat was also the intent, since alot of the thread previously has been about "Guys vs. Gals" on the eye candy. But you might have to give the boy awards another title because there aren't many "PODIUM BOYS" as far as I'm aware.
