You might want to venture down to the Soap Box - I have a vague feeling there was a thread along those lines a while back.

The Italian job was a great movie IMHO, especially around the time it came out. It hasn't aged so well with the progress of special effects though. The idea of a professionally orchestrated heist beating all the authorities probably fit into the late sixties anti-establishment theme, especially since all the attempts to beat the authorities seemed to be fruitless.
What pretentious waffle am I blathering about? It was a great chase at the end which made the film.

Matagi: So far you have poo-pooed my attempt to post a whole page of Crankyfeet posts. You've poo-pooed our tongue-in-cheek talk of challenging the "Thread about nothing" (as if that were possible?). You poo-pooed my dream dinner by scoffing at my choice of wine. You poo-pooed my Australian story by informing our readers that "stuffed" is not in common usage these days (like no one in Oz says "Get stuffed!" - and it would rarely be said in front of a lady anyway). You poo-pooed my avatar disappearance by joking that it had run away to the circus. And now you've poo-pooed my attempt to get some more pretty pictures onto this thread, by way of a podium girl contest (which BTW has never been done before on the forum if my use of the forum search-engine was correct).
Now I know you are probably from Sydney which, if true, kind of explains the attitude a bit, but matagi - Do you have it in for Crankyfeet?... Or just this thread? Or have I completely misjudged the littany of knock-downs?
And, with gracious respect to the fact you are a member of the fairest of sexes - Are you sitting in a lot of poo?

Geez Crankers! Harden the fuck up will ya? :p
Did I pooh-pooh your attempt to post an entire page of threads? I really don't recall. Only problem with that aim is that it is entirely dependent on whether the person reading the threads is using the default number of posts per page or has it set to a higher number (as I do). But hey, if you want to make the attempt - who am I to stand in the way of a man and his keyboard. :D
As for pooh-poohing the disappearance of your avatar. It was only my feeble attempt at humour. I didn't realise you and your avatar were having deeper issues.
And I'm not pooh-poohing your attempts to get more pretty pictures on the thread, I'm just suggesting the female members might prefer to gaze upon attractive members of the opposite sex rather than podium girls.
As for your dream dinner - I was only trying to help make it even more memorable, but if you are going to take my well-meaning attempts at assistance the wrong way, then all I can say is ........
Get stuffed! :p ;) :D
PS. I live north of Sydney, but I am originally from Melbourne.

I accept your apology. Just don't do it again OK.;)
[PS - So that attempted 15 consecutive posts to a page was a waste of time anyway:confused: ]

Well I think the forum default is 20 posts per page, you can also display 5, 10, 30 and 40 posts per page.
I reckon you should go for 40 consecutive posts, that way you cover all bases. ;)

welcome back, mel! :pWell thank you for the welcome. I wasn't sure if I would get any welcome considering I cut short my 6 month sabbattical by 5 months and 27 days.
Now Mr. Lamkin here thinks I am post-padding. Like there's some sort of post tally contest or something. Anyone can see that I don't post without a good reason to do so. For instance this is a very large thread now, klodifan, of 580 odd posts, and my contribution to that is a measly 238 posts. Quality over quantity, that's my motto.
So Klodi, have you seen any movies recently. I noticed that you like chick-flick style classics. That makes it painful when your date wants to see Transformers no doubt.

wow, that's not even 50%, who is complaining. I don't see your posts as padding - they are all about as useful as this one.

I like ya already Jainie. A women who gets what this thread is all about. Drivel and meaningless repartee. And you are very welcome to post any boy toy photos you like. I'm not interested, but anything that entertains the wonderful ladies in this thread (that includes you, my joke-pal, matagi) is good by me, and no doubt good by the Patroness herself, Klodifan.
This thread aims to be a respite from the seriousness of our 9-5 jobs on the other threads. You don't have to worry about critical eyes here. Its grab a drink, lounge back, and just say whatever's on your mind.
And any other members reading at this point are most welcome to contribute something inane, with total freedom from judgment (sorry matagi, I misjudged you before, and I was pulling your leg;) ).
very, very useful!

 :D  :DTim...I can understand where you're coming from here. Here's this fruit-cake Crankhead whose posted over 600 posts in 4 months compared to your 536 in 2 years. But I have researched all our posts and come up with these stats.
Average words per post:...... Tim (17.63)....... Cranky (96.67)
Average really good points per post:....... Tim(0.628)..... Cranky (4.435)
Average erroneous crap points per post:....... Tim(0.21)...... Cranky (5.86)
Percentage of posts that are total drivel:...... Tim(21.67%)....... Cranky (89.64%)
So on this basis it is pretty even. I win on quantity of words and average good points and you win on less crap and drivel. So I think we can call it even on the post-padding label.

I'd never heard of post padding before. Besides, Lamkin's posts mostly to foil with others. totally annoying.
as far as movies go, its all about negotiation... I always pick! ;)
but to tell you the truth, with hdtv and surround sound, netflix is the preferred choice.
