No Post here for the last few days, just posting to bring it back into being.

Not to rub this in the face of those from Cali, but we have had rain for 3 days here in the south. It has been a great 3 days.
At least you don't get the snow I have had a couple of times in the last few weeks.

Just on a tangent here, I am falling in love with early american history, particularly the works and design put in place by the Founding Fathers. With my cursory knowledge, my favorite is Jefferson, however they all had big parts to play. I can't help thinking that if it wasn't for their prescience, America wouldn't be half of what it is today. The Constitution, Declaration of Independence, etc., and the selfless government system set up then, have stood the test of time, and set the USA apart.

Anyone like to add their thoughts, as I imagine there are a lot more knowledgable people here.

It's hard to get enthralled by him since he only emigrated from England two years before American Independence. But I can see how you might appreciate his anti-religious stance. He seemed to have an ongoing feud with Washington.

I found this excerpt from Wikipedia funny because it reminded me of "The Life of Brian" in the scene where a guy asked each prisoner if he had been condemned to crucifixion or given freedom. I mean - putting a chalk mark on an opened cell door with three other prisoners, designating you were to be executed that day. Duh. Just wipe it off.

"Imprisoned and fearing that each day might be his last, Paine escaped execution apparently by chance. A guard walked through the prison placing a chalk mark on the doors of the prisoners who were due to be condemned that day. He placed one on the door of the cell that Paine shared with three other prisoners, which, because Paine was ill at the time, he had asked to be left open. Read "Democracy in America" by Alexis de Tocqueville. His take on our early foundation is amazingly accurate. It puts a lot of our foundation into a perspective many people have, but have never thought of so concretely.

I had a rib sandwich for lunch today. It was actually very good. Not a McRib though. This one was from a Mennonite stand at the Reading Terminal Market in Philly. I wonder if they know Landis.
