What time will they be at the game and what's your address again?
Actually NNS's husband is deer hunting tomorrow so I'm going to have to take a raincheck C'Girl.

Now my family has quickly run out in hot pursuit of the fastest sled sold so we can go sledding tonight. I just would like to know why we can never go during daylight? Why do "we" always decide to go at night, when you darned near lose a toe from hypothermia?
I really hope I can manipulate our way out of this one. I SO don't want to go sledding tonight in the freezing cold. Oh, but "all the good snow will be gone" if we don't go RIGHT AWAY, lol! Even though it's supposed to snow all through to Monday morning.

You're gonna get a pom pom where the sun don't shine if you're not careful...:p
I gotta ask! The whole pom pom girl or just the fuzzy accessories?
OK, I am on the road.

Cranky, you really are going to get a beating at this rate. Instead of a pom pom, it likely will involve a hockey stick and a jersey pulled over the head though (my kid was born with skates on btw.) And, smarty pants, that would be YOUR jersey. ;)

I love the town, but actually I like Copper Mtn. better for terrain. The terrain at Breck is a little flat on the bottom so you need to stay at the top and get on at midway and ride back up. Cooper has some decent off trail skiing also.
Keystone, A-Basin all there in Summit Co. and we can slide over to Vail in 30 minutes or so.
I just can't afford to eat at Vail. $20 burgers.
But yes, the apres ski life is good after 4 O'clock Run.
I have devoted a life to perfecting my "Alpine Pillow Skiing" techniques.
This is good party I am headed to in a few CF, you should be here.
It always has some good moments.
btw: I doubt I will be posting later and if I do please disregard what I post.
Yes I know, you always do.I'm more of a groomed slope cruiser than a double black diamond, off-piste, terrain, mogul hound. I get knackered in the legs too quickly on the steep stuff. Probably bad technique. Yeah Breck is a bit of a blue-run and beginners mountain. And not a great intermediate mountain at that because a lot of the runs are disjointed. Copper has done a bit better at grouping their runs IMO. I just like the town of Breck better. And its only a short bus trip to Copper.

You're definitely not going to stick it anywhere though, right. I have rules against that sort of stuff.
NNS...you know that this is all fun and play. ;)

Aren't there places to go where they supply the toboggans and you just pay a fee?
Oh..you're not in STL any more are you?

The convulsions should only last about 15 seconds. Any longer than that and I'm really envious.:p

Make up your mind, Cranky...bunny or cheerleader? The cheerleader seems to be getting more of a response from the focus group...:p
I'm off to a party as well...my tree is up and decorated and my house is all cozy and Christmasy and Eddie Bauery, and I'm going to celebrate by trashing someone else's house, LOL.

That would be mean. There's not much for him to do until Het Volk you know.
Have a good party.:D

We do that tobogganing thing every year. Haven't done it yet this year, but tonight would have been perfect. It is really steep and really fast. A blast going down but the ride only lasts 30 seconds and then you have to carry that HUGE toboggan up a ton of stairs.
Instead, we did end up going sledding. Total blast. And, it warmed up (even rained a little NNS). Equipped with snow ball fights and snow angels and a daredevil standing on the sled and snowboarding down the hill with it, quite successfully too. I'm so afraid my youngest is going to end up a ski bum (no offense jhusk, but it's my pocketbook I'm most concerned about :p ). The child absolutely LOVES the snow and becomes totally fearless when in it. Otherwise, a very hesitant child but all sense of fear disappears in the snow. Might have to move back to Colorado, huh jhusk?
Speaking of which, I like Copper a lot too. Great bunny slope for teaching people to ski. Never a big fan of Vail. Poorly laid out imo. And, when the wind comes whipping through on top, look out!!! My favorite out that way is probably Breckenridge. I also like Keystone though. I love that really long green slope (can't think of the name now but that's where I learned to ski). There's also a blue I really like there.
I talk big, but like Cranky I stick to trails, greens and steep blues. No moguls for me, no black diamonds or double blacks and no back bowls. That's all hubby's gig. As I always say, if anything happens to me I want PLENTY of people around to help me and to know where I'm at. :D As such, I too prefer well groomed slopes (no avalanche fears that way. ;) )
My older kid surpassed me in skiing ability at the age of 7 literally the first day of skiing. But, I'm afraid it's the younger one I really have to look out for. :(

All this talk about snow and skiing has got my ski juices running. Need to get the skis tuned up. I just checked the snow report and the snow depth is about 30 inches at Crystal Mountain. Not great but it is snowing now so it will probably be four feet soon.
That's one good thing about Seattle, you are only a couple of hours away from ski areas with 3000+ foot drops. And Whistler is only 4 hours away as well.
On your kids C'girl. I don't think it is that expensive if you enrol them in the after-school ski school. But I hear you that it is not like soccer. Some of the ski shops offer deals where you can upgrade the shoes as your kids grow out of the old ones, without having to pay for a whole new pair. But you are probably more aware of that stuff than me.

Hey..it really did snow here! :) Roads are terrible, but survivable, especially if as a passenger you take a little nap on the way home from a party..;) Will have to get some sleep if we are going to do the sledding thing at the crack of dawn by the way the kids are talking...
Anyway, we have shops here called Play It Again Sports that I hear are all over...you can get good second hand sports equipment for kids there ( and sell it too). No skiing around here, but there is a lot of hockey stuff in this area. I bet there's something similar for skiing there. Or like a Craig's List or something.

I was looking forward to taking advantage of you after you came home drunk from the party but it looks like it's sleep for you. Oh well.:(

Oh, maybe I can keep one eye open...;)Its not fair. I am at home tonight, when everyone else is out on dates and at parties, and I'm here with a bigger headache than anyone, probably from staring at a computer screen for three weeks.
Wait a minute. I don't have anything social going on tonight because I spend all my time flirting with girls on a forum who are 2000 miles away and married. Duhhh.
Australians are not known for being "quick". I thought living in America might have cured me by now?
