Peter Bundy Cycles Re-Opens
Yes, the rumours are true, Peter Bundy Cycles has just re-opened adjacent the old location, and it's almost business as usual. Welcome back Peter, you legend! Now that he's back it feels like he never left.
I personally think that Peter Bundy Cycles is the best bike shop around, and I'm sure that anybody who's ever been to the shop will agree. At peak times you might have to wait a little longer for service than at other bikeshops, because if he isn't offering people advice, then he's making sure that they're being looked after rather than just trying to put the hard sell on them (no matter whether they're average joes in civvies or lycra-clad technoweenies, or whether they're riding a unicycle or the latest carbon composite), or he's answering literally dozens of customers phone enquiries. That personal touch of Peter's is definitely what makes him stand out from the pack (pardon the pun).
I was in his shop 3 times last week (plan at least one more trip this week), and each time I saw him doing several service/repairs, some on bikes that weren't even originally sold thru his shop old or new (ok, yes one of them was mine). On each of my visits, he must have answered at least half a dozen calls, directed a number of people to other bike shops in the area when he didnt stock the exact product they were after, and each and every customer was welcomed with a cheerful "G'day mate" in jovial Peter Bundy style. Did I mention I think the guy is an absolute legend already? LOL.
For the uninitiated, he used to have a shop at Guildford before relocating to Riverwood. Peter and his father Jim have been building handmade frames for many years. If I recall Jim has been building them for well over 50yrs, and Peter about last 15yrs. Anyone who owns one of Jim or Peter's handmade frames can attest to their quality workmanship. Peter tells me that the frame jig should be operational by the end of the month. Anybody needing a road or track frame built or repaired, a road or track single speed conversion, a road or track wheel built, some bulletproof 27 x 1" tyres, a MTB or BMX for the wife and kids, go on over and see him. With his good reputation it will be hard to leave disappointed.

Sogood, youre more than welcome mate. As I said: 'the best bike shop around'. It's unfortunate that there aren't more bikeshops around like his.
jock.c, are you deluded or what? I can assure you I am NOT Peter Bundy. He's probably forgotten more about cycling than I will ever know about it. I am NOT acting as an agent for him either. I was NOT asked to write this for him, nor to post it on his behalf. All words expressed are those of the author - ME, and not those of Peter Bundy. I am merely a very satisfied customer (as evident from my first post) letting people know that a much (dare I say) loved and respected bike shop is open again after an excruciating 3yr absence. An absence that left many individuals (like myself) without a bikeshop of comparable quality that didnt require a trekking expedition to get to. Don't you think if I was actually him, and if this that was actually spam that I'd say something more like: "mention this post and get 10% off bike purchase" or something similar? But I guess that's not really something Peter would say or do now is it? So maybe forget I even just said all of that LOL. But I can assure you that I am definitely NOT him. BTW, yes I have a sense of humour too.:p
Gday Brizza, not sure of his "Official"opening hours, they seem to be about 8 or 9am to 4 or 5pm mon to fri, (He's usually open til later on thu, unless there's racing), and I think sat 8am til about 1pm (I think he likes some overall flexibility), I'll go over and ask him for you if you like?
