View Full Version : New Bike - Norco Storm?
Hi
I am just about to buy my first Hardtail Mountain Bike. I have looked at loads of bikes but have came across a bike I have never heard of before - Norco Storm - seems a good bike at a good price. Has anyone got any experience/knowledge of these bikes?
I have also looked at the Specialized Hardrock/HR Sport.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
I have a '96 Norco Java. It's been beat on a ton and still lives. They are an excelent handilng bike, very quick, and love fast downhill( as much as a hardtail can). I don't think you can go wrong with a Norco.
One thing you can always expect from a Norco is a well made frame. They tend to be stable and sturdy. If the bike you are looking at has the component level/mix you want then go for it. My preference would be the Norco over the Special Ed. Have fun.

I just bought a Norco (Charger, not Storm) and I love it...compared a few bikes before making a decision and the Norcos seem to come up trumps for value on component quality compared with other brands (I looked at Giant, Diamond Back and Kona). Got my first look at the new Giant Iguanas today (which is the level I was looking at price-wise) and they don't compare for value (in my opinion).
Norco= Canadian quality,good choice !
How much did you pay for the Norco charger?
03 or 04? US or canadian?
thanks

i own a NORCO NX2000 dual shock i'm a road cyclist but yer frames are made well. i paid $900 for mine new because it was in the shop for a while. it was $1400. just it is a average size like me some dude ordered it ion never picked it up so i'm happy. but yer i did F*&K the front rime on a donw hill. but it's an adventure series bike so ..... but i think the rim was a bit or a dud. i mean the wheel was bent in half and the frame and back wheel and straight as a die. so bye the norco but i have o say teh only reason i got it was that it had a disc brake on teh front.
and was blue. but i know that the price is good, like trek are so dear as some one said Canandale quilty nice price. well my NORCO NX2000 would be like at leat $2500 in these 2 brands . i wated a trek but the cheapest Dual shock was $3000 Merida are another good priced bike. but as far as things for if u see a 7005 alloy frame with the same runing gear in merida and norco good but in tREK CANANDALE DEAR. u pay for Armsrtong when byeing a Trek evn In MTB. manily USA stuff is dear when there are real good things out the better price EASTON is a big carbin sport maker but hella dear not saying it's not goood but it sure is dear.
Sorry for the delay in replying to your question - had some troubles signing in last couple of attempts.
To answer your question Re: price of the Norco Charger, I paid AUD$899 (Australian dollars), but it is actually a 2002 model (I compared the 2002 and 2003 models and went for last years based on the value of the overall componentry). I don't know if the 2004 Norco models are out yet but chances are you'd have them before we get them down under.
